I apologize in advance if I've missed this somewhere in the docs. I just want to know if I can create a craft set to alien deployment, but have it be an escape pod? Basically what I want to do is give one of my races their own kind of escape pod. I just want to be sure that having a pathetic, defenseless craft set to "alien deployment" won't cause it to be the first class of vessel spawned for these aliens. It does skip escape pod type crafts when choosing what to spawn with, right?
Again just checking, and thanks for any info. [:)]

Ummm..though users flying alien ships will certainly be able to use the excape pods. The aliens themselves never use excape pods.

Oh I'm aware of the users benefiting from the pods. That's sorta the point, to try and add some variety even in that area. I just want to be sure that when new aliens spawn (at least in the beginning) using the weak ships, that they don't spawn in the alien escape pod itself. So that's my question, do aliens ever spawn in ships flagged as escape pods? Again this assumes the pod/ship is also flagged as alien deployment.

I don't know the answer to your question but I think you can do it this way.
Im not expert on running games but I think you would assign the ship to the aliens, and assign the pod to that ship...but don't assign the pod to the aliens, and you would get your desired effect.

Ahh. So you suggest leaving it (the new kind of alien pod) on manual deployment, or some such thing? Hmm. I have to admit I didn't think about that, although I guess I could. Does anyone forsee problems with that? Does it matter if you set it to alien just to keep things neat [?]

Well I know that you cannot buy Escape Pods at the stardock even though they are active...so my guess would be that you would not be able to buy this (the new kind of alien pod) at the stardock either).
Could be wrong. If you assign it to the aliens then we arrive back at your original question...I can't give you a straight answer...I am suprised one of these actual game ops hasn't chimed in here yet.

I have done something similar to this. Vessels marked as escape pods are not available for sale at Stardock. But you could also set it to manual.

in one game i made i wanted the scout the same as the escape pod. I made the 2 seperate ships named them the same. since the scout has no pod they are identical. but only the scout is available at sd. They look identical in space and work the same.

I'm still learning the TEdit, so anything I say here is subject to scrutiny.
I assigned my borg a Borg Pod. I created the escape pod so that when people captured the Borg Scout it would have a pod if they decided to use the ship. Anyway, I assigned the Borg Pod as an available ship and listed it in the Alien,Specific deployment under resources (page 4 of the race edits).
Next thing I know the Borg were all flying around in Borg Pods! They loved that ship, which surprised me because I was under the false impression that if a ship is classified as a pod the aliens won't use it. Not so, evidently.
So, I went back in to page 4 and excluded the Borg Pod from resources available to the Borg. Now, I'm wondering, The Borg WERE flying around in Cubes and now they are not. Not a single Borg Cube in the game.
Could this be because the Cube does not have a pod?
Someone help me out here, I'm trying to learn this.
Thanks
