I've seen some posts here that indicate that gold aliens can be made to attack each other as well as players, even to invade each others planets.
I'm curious about how this is done, as my experiments with multiple races set to be agressive and unforgiving and grouping and so forth just seems to result in a bunch of aliens ignoring each other (although I've made sure that ignore other aliens is set to no).
Can alien races be made to:
attack each others ships?
attack each others planets?
attack each others deployed figs/mines?
and will the ship/planet attacks show in the daily log?
And if this is all possible, how? I'm clearly missing something here.
Thanks.

Yes it is possible. My gold aliens attack each other. There is a setting to tell your gold aliens to ignore other aliens. If you wish to have your gold aliens attack each other, make sure this setting is set accourdingly...

I've checked that one, time and time again, and still no luck for whatever reason.
The test I'm running now, here's what I've got. Gold Ferrengi, another race based on them, ships are also based on ferrengi vessels with no changes aside from the name.
Under behaviors in the race editor I have them set as Protective, Unforgiving and Aggressive set to YES. Ignore Other Aliens set to NO. I'm sitting in a sector right now with both species as an observer and they're just merrily ignoring each other. =/

Ok, Harley, a little help... Does the settings with the formulas have something to do with it? I am thinking so, because they are real weak. Try setting the days of the game to like 180 days, and then see what happenes...

Hi again,
I've tried increasing game age as well. I've also tweaked the formulas to increase the number of fighters, shields, experience, you name it, they're still pacifists.
I've had a local game running for about 14 hours now with the game aged to 140 days, 400 aliens on both sides in a 20k galaxy. They've had time to spread out and build, but still no fighting going on.

They will hit each others fighters, mines, and cannons. They will not attack each other and they will not invade a planet that is not in their home sector with their own planet in it. The alien AI is something that has not been introduced yet and that is the only way to make them do that.

Shorty, your way off.
Aliens will claim any planet in their space, not just their home sector. If an alien attacks an online player, or offline, what's to say that alien can't attack another alien? Read the logs on some of those super alien games, they attack eachother
They Trade, attack, destroy, patrol MSL's, and search out players.. Only thing I haven't seen them do is colonize.

Thats what I have seen in the games as well. Maybe TWGS has become corrupt in someway. Save all your data, and try re-installing the program... Maybe that will help...

Well I have been playing this game for about 8 years and have never seen or heard of an alien actually attacking another alien 1 on 1. I have seen them attack fighters and planets and hit mines and I have seen fighters and planets hitting aliens but never each other. Maybe what your seeing is that in the logs and not actual aliens attacking aliens. Show me a game where its happening that way and I will beleive it.

Set it up on your own twgs, do a small game, 1k sectors, do as many races as you feel comfortable with, probably 8 should work, make them agressive, unforgiving, and all the mean stuff (make sure they also trade, and rob/steal)

whoops wasn't done..
Set them to rob and steal, then just give them a few days to collide. They will.

My aliens go for each other. It just loads down the mail everyday to see repeatedly... over and over...
Borg <name> was destroyed by the Federation's Fighters.
Klingon Warrior <name> was killed by Borg <name>.

They are talking about "Gold" ones
Not the stock ones..
GOLD ones..
They will kill, damage, and even try to invade your base if they know their planet is there.
Got a door that needs mothing, but you have a fig down
EASSSSY.. invade their planet and sit it in ur foe's base and let the game moth for ya...
All in all
turn them off, they are worse than 200 newbies trying to work together when team size is set to 3

Hahaha, another cool trick with gold aliens is to let them trade for you. =) I invaded their planet, turned off the cannon and stripped the colos, and then left it there for a day as an experiment to see how much would regenerate. I came back the next day and the aliens had (of course) reclaimed their planet and put 1.2 mil in the citadel for me. =) They also dropped a few ftrs on the planet, so I had to reinvade (cost me less than 1k ftrs), but they never replenished the planetary shields, nor turned the cannon back on.
I have all the aliens in the game trading for me now 24/7 =) Every couple days I drop in and pick-up the cash.
And yes, they colonize too. Either that, or their planet just generates colos out of thin air, because they get about 50 a day spread randomly across the 3 production lines.
