Just a question. Theres an "observer" tag in the player/planet/ship flags pages, but what does it do? Ive never seen it changable, its always grayed.

Im asking because itd be nice to have an account called Admin or something with some sort of spectator mode so i could fly around and enter any sector just to get the feel of how the game is progressing.

Just ordered gold but havent gotten my code yet, will gold enable this option?

not totaly sure but i think gold may let you select this flag...But with an observer account you do not have ANY effect on the game and can go to any sector in the game but cannot land on any planets

You can make a player an observer through the player edit screen. Make an admin account and set it to Observer.

Every time ive ever looked at it in the user editor the option is grayed out and unavailable.

Go to tedit, go to the user editor, enter a blank user record number, press A to initialize player, enter the bbs name then press Y to set it as an observer. This is the only way to create an observer account. Once an account is created, the observer flag can't be changed.

To create the Observer properly, you must create a new TW account as a sysop. The easiest way to do this is to set the Sysop check-box in TWGS before entering TW to create an account in the game. As sysop, you can do a few extra things that other players cannot, inclusing this.

During the account creation process, you will be asked if you would like to make the account an Observer. This is the only time you can create this account type.

Great thanks guys. Works perfectly. Just wanted to get that ironed out before i set up my gold game as soon as i get my key, since keeping that running will be more interesting.
