How about removing the Red Rank of:
<12> Terrorist 4,096
...and make it something like Notorious Robber

And isn't there some sort of bug with photons and retreating?
In an unlimited turn game, if you are photoned, retreating from a fig ends the effects of the photon. I think entering and exiting the game does as well, but I'm not sure on that. That's only in unlimited turn games.

You know, maybe im wistfully wishing here, but the one thing i wish i could do in tradewars is make a more interactive experience for people on my server. I wish i could set my account as "ferrengi" and fly around as a human-controlled ferrengi making life challenging for my users.
But thats just me

A Sysop named Pink use to do just that on his server. He created a player named the Borg or something and put it in a special Cube ship. Then when someone on his server didn't play like he wanted them too, he would log in to tedit, get their location, and then log in as the Borg and kill the person. In other words, pink is a retard.

Alien AI is kind of weird, they enter your sector fighters but don't do anything and it spams up your game mail with "Fouchi Bertzwit's Assault Trader entered your sector in 1234" 20 times or more. I wish he'd either leave the fighters alone, or destroy them and get over the dupe messages.
Also the low end Ferrengi ships aren't worth that much, I like to capture them, but it isn't worth the cost of Figs to attack and capture them. Assault Traders and Battlecruisers I don't see as being that good. Maybe the higher ups like the Dreadnaught or Scorpion are worth it, but I hardly ever see a Ferrengi in one. Most games I am in are rerolled after 30 days or so, so there might never be a chance to see one in action and capture it. Also what happened to getting bountys on Ferrengi's? I don't seem to see that anymore and older games had an instant bounty if you nailed a Ferrengi. Yet I still get taxed to help fight off the Ferrengi?

I have a pretty good working list, and I'll try to address ten to twenty of the most important bugs for this next revision. Feel free to continue with suggestions, but remember that I'm looking for bugs that make the game virtually unplayable, not issues with gameplay in general. The game design is pretty much how it will be for v3. I just want to make sure the game works as designed.

My last post got me thinking... you know what would be cool is some sort of auditing system for sysop actions.
Like once a game is banged and the 1st player logs in, the system would then track and timestamp every change made in TEdit. This log would then be accessible in game with the use of a new global command. I think this would solve a lot of disputes and give players peace of mind and also allow sysops to once again play in their own games without being harassed.

Now That is a Good Idea!

One thing I don't think anyone here has mentioned is the atrmospheric quasar cannon pod bug. If you get podded by an L3 atmospheric quasar, there is a "[Pause]" prompt. That prompt allows you to stay with the planet in your pod no matter where the planet goes. Players riding this prompt cannot be targeted or killed, and their corpies can track them to keep track of the enemy planet.
This isn't how that should work.

It might have been mentioned , the death limit bug .
It should not matter if #SD#'d if death limit was 10 .. then 10 is dead.
and second .. cosmetic fixes for ship prices ...
And my pet peeve , in bbs days when a ship had no pod it was not capturable ..without any questions on player in ship or not.
If this can't be fixed , how about a flag so the few sysop's
who believe this to be right can set ships as non capturable.

Good point Cbs...I think you got me with that bug once, kind of irritating. Was on Goosemoose B game about 18 months ago, I loved being a pain in your back side tho while it lasted.

Hey John welcome back! Was wondering about JumpGate. Can you email me at liquidchaoss@yahoo.com
I was asked to create the Jumpgate search engine and after I finished it I never heard anything afterwards

Actually Bro the death count works they way its supposed to.
IF you as a sysop want it to work otherwise take away escape pods for all ship class.
NO Cosmetics!!!!!! unplayable game things that need fixed!

I just recently learned of this. If you are stuck in an ship interdictor. all you have to do is have someone else come in there, drop a personal fig, have the other person lock on your ship to tow you out. then the othe rperson tries to leave the sector, will be put on your personal fig. then you retreat off that personal fig.
then have the other person move one sector so that his towed ship shows up. ta da

Heh, Who show'd you that heh..
I dont class that as a bug, unless you wanted to say that maybee it should do a fig check again on the actual retreat to stop us doing what we did.. but that would get a bit weird and it doesnt seem to cause a problem..
IG's in general have some MAJOR problems with game play. I dont think jp will want to spend the time to fix some of them..
The MAIN problem (in my mind) with IG's and unplayable situations is "pod flee". When your ship is grabb'd by a IG then your last sector = current sector and your pod flee sector = current sector..
So if someone pdrops you with a l6 planet or if they drop in on you with a ship that has IG then they can basically stop your pod from flee'ing.. I think this will piss many people off when they start getting killed like say, adjacent to stardock or fed space..
The "Planet" bug you listed was fixed in his last nonreleased version (or so i was told it was).. I guess that means it'll be done again..
The Login from planet while planet is moving is an annoying problem too cause of the things that are mention'd, I think that doing a CIM at the planet level might cause a similar situation but dont quote me on that.
I think that "Many" problems of the game are simply down to where the checks take place. Most legacy bugs were the same, what is going to happen now that this is inialized and can it be done, if everything checks out okay then it will happen (EVERY TIME) when you acknowledge it.. many of these have been fixed and some havent
Reds xporting into ISS, anyone xporting into a CFS, exchanging ships with someone in the sector, breaking into a new corp without having to hack the password, Or even the "Global" bug that lets us do possibly hundreds of things..
I personally support a rewrite of v3 instead of bugfixes.
But that's just me, and btw
This topic is starting to go a bit skhewwey.. I think JP wanted current bugs listed/mention'd and not general ideas for how you would improve the game, If you want a improvement then suggest it for version 4 or whatever. I am not saying some improvements would be a bad thing but we havent seen many fixes now over the past couple of years (correct me if I am wrong there) so I think we should just let him fix stuff and not nag about "our idea" of the game..
