Help!!
Had TWGS on one machine already setup and running and that pc is now on it's deathbed... Need to know if it's possible to move TWGS , complete games and setting still intact to another pc or will I have to create all new games?

You should be able to either export the games and then import them in your new server, or copy the directories and move them over. If you need specifics, please ask.

Since two people have asked, maybe you could just post it here for people who actually use the search function to solve their problems.

To answer you question, YES you can save your current TWGS setup. there are 2 ways of doing this. And I'll outline both below:
Example 1:
1. With TWGS loaded, but the server not running. Goto the Command Center
2. Select the game you want.
3. Select Archive from the menu above.
4. Select Export Game.
5. Choose where you would like to export the game too, and the name of the file. (note: the extension of the file will always be .twa )
6. Select from the next menu. All of the Local files.
7. If you have any Gold Aliens that you have created, ansi screens, etc., that you have created for the game. They should be shown in the Global Files section. Select all that are required. Or just select all.
8. Click on Export button. You have now created an export of your game. This can be used as a backup means. Or to send to someone a copy of a game you have created.
9. Do this for all games.
10. If you have created new main menu ansi screens. Or created any ansi screens, not part of a game. Then I would copy those to the same directory you have placed you exported game files.
Re-installation:
1. install TWGS on your new computer, by using the TWGS installtion program. Do not forget to enter your registration information.
2. Setup your server settings. Either to what you had before. Or change them.
3. Add your games to the game tab. It is best to keep the same name for them. Although you can change the directory for them.
4. Goto you Command Center window.
5. Select the game you wish to bring back.
6. Select Archive
7. Select Import Game.
8. Navagate to were you have the exported game files. And select the game file that you want to import.
9. All of the game files you had seleced for export. Should be shown and selected. If not then select them all.
10. Click on Import button. You have just now imported a game to your TWGS server.
11. Do this for all of you games.
12. copy any custome ansi screens, you have placed with the exported game files, to your TWGS installation. Make sure they are in the same place as before.
13. start your server.
Example 2:
1. copy the entier contents of your TWGS directory, to another directory on another drive.
or
1. archive the entier contents of your TWGS directory to an archive file. It can be a .zip, .rar, .ace, what ever.
Re-installation:
1. install TWGS on your new computer, by using the TWGS installtion program. Do not forget to enter your registration information.
2. Setup your server settings. Either to what you had before. Or change them.
3. Add your games to the game tab. It is best to keep the same name for them. But, you must keep the same directory structor for the games.
4. exit out of TWGS.
5. copy the entier contents of the back directory, or archive, to your new installation.
6. Load up TWGS and start it.
That is all you need to do. I would recommend that you use Example 1. As it is a good way of creating backups of your games. And they take up less disk space.

Also you can set up the scheduler in TWGS to do daily backups of your game files if you want. I have my TWGS run a batch file to backup all games.
rem ---Sample of Batch file ---
for /f "delims=" %%a in ('DATE /T') do set Date=%%a
for /f "tokens=2-4 delims=/ " %%a in ('DATE /T') do set Date=%%c%%b%%a
cd "C:\Program Files\EIS\TWGS\BACKUP"
md %Date%
cd %Date%
xcopy "C:\Program Files\EIS\TWGS\GAME\*.*" /E /Y
rem ---Sample of Batch file ---
Just be sure to check the box to have the server offline when the backup is running. Otherwise the xcopy command can't copy the open files. Also be sure you have plenty of disk space as this backs up ALL the files in the "\GAME" directory.
