DO NOT add dashes, spaces or any other childish techniques of getting around the word filter of the forum. If we didn’t want the words filtered in the smack talk area we would turn the filter off.

To those who can’t intelligently flame without vulgar language, at least try and have some class (this means try and fake it).

Resorting to vulgarity in arguments or flames is a sign of low intelligence, and should be kept in the neanderthal TW2002 yahoo group.

I originally was just going to suspend forum privileges for this, because its already been stated onceTHREE TIMES, but since I am such a nice guy I will give this lastanother. warning Next offense suspension and then anymore problems from the offender we will just site ban their IP.

This is being posted as a reminder for the proper use of the smack talk area of the EIS forums.

We have received complaints from a few forum members concerning the language and comments being made in the Smack Talk area. I am making this post in response to both sides of this issue. This post is being placed in the Forum Announcements, Trade Wars 2002 and Smack Talk areas so that everyone should have an opportunity to read it.

EIS is not responsible for any content posted here in the forum, unless specifically posted by an EIS representative. EIS feels that it must do everything in its power to keep all of our forum members happy and safe from harassment.

The Smack Talk area is designed to be a place where those people that like to participate in “flame” types of conversation can and is meant to be “unmoderated”. The idea is that if these people have a place to post these aggressive types of posts, then the other areas of the forum would remain free of these types of posts. If you are not one of the members that enjoys reading and posting “flames” then it is a good idea not to enter this area. While the rules for the Smack Talk area are “relaxed” to a great degree this does not mean that the area is free from the rules set for the use of the entire Trade Wars 2002 supports forums. The area has the same word filters that all the other forums have on them. And follow the same rules everyone that has made a post in any area of the forum has agreed to. I point to the specific area of the agreement “In your use of these forums, you agree that you will not post any information which is vulgar, harassing, hateful, threatening, invading of others privacy, sexually oriented, or violates any laws”. Let everyone be warned now that failure to follow this rule, regardless of the area in which it is posted, may result in loss of forum privileges. That being stated, please know that it is not our intention to become the “Gestapo” the Smack Talk area shall remain as it is intended to be a place to make aggressive posts about other players and servers. What that means if you want to berate or defend a player, sysop, gameop or even EIS feel free to enter the Smack Talk area and do so in as aggressive a manner as is allowable by the agreement. Racial Slurs, Physical Threats and Gay Bashing will not be tolerated by anyone. If you feel that you must engage in this type of activity, there are plenty of hate sites on the Internet were you can find people of like mind to belittle anyone who may be different then you are. Just go to your favorite search engine and type in HATEFUL IDIOTS, I am sure you will find plenty of places to waste your time.

I find filters on an unmoderated forum designed for flames rather ironic.

Not that it really matters what you find ironic or not, the reason for the filters is very simple; the support forums are open to many young viewers. Had you read the registration page when you signed up for this forum you would realize that its EIS's intent to protect it's young visitors as much as possible. A number of concerned adults contacted us when there were no filters in the Smack Talk Area and expressed concerns about the language that was being used in this area. Since we did not want these responsible parents having to filter out the entire forum so that their kids wouldn't be exposed to the vulgarities (and originally the complaints were made about much more explicit references to sex and gay bashing) we installed the filters forum wide.

You are a parent, yes? I would think you would understand this, but maybe not. Regardless all areas of the Support forums represent EIS and as such perhaps must meet a higher standard then the forums you are use to frequenting.

If you like the colorful vulgarities there are forums concerning TW that allow it, this one however does not.

I wasn't attacking your decision, but you do have to admit that putting filters so some things aren't allowed, then calling it unmoderated and threatening to ban people is rather ironic. If you chose to filter it, that's your prerogative, although personaly, I imagine anyone viewing this forum is old enough to have heard and used anything that is said here, and is also old enough to know what the **** stands for.

Actually... I'm the person who provides customer service and product support for EIS. Any customer service issues should be directed to me via email at rave@cox.net, as should any technical support requests for Trade Wars v3 Door or TWGS.

Rick is EIS' Project Team Lead. Issues regarding future EIS projects, forum management, website design and maintenance, etc., should be directed to him at teamEIS@eisonline.com.

Regarding Kemper's comment of the irony of filtering the smack talk forum, Gypsy's response was right on target. Regardless of who/how many find the filters in the Smack Talk forum ironic, they are in place, and they will stay in place.

Regarding flame threads in general, its generally accepted that only "newbs" or "flame bait" rely on vulgarities, gender or racial slurs and bashing of a person's sexual orientation in order to make a point, while more mature and intelligent flamers rely on wits alone to burn their victims. It's when your victim doesn't even understand the nature of your attack that the attack is most devastating. If this is a difficult concept to grasp, I suggest joining and involving yourself in a dedicated flame forum... there are many to be found on your local newsgroup server, and not only are they fun to participate in, they are often very stimulating, thought-provoking and educational to boot.
