I haven't done a lot of testing but my twgs server seems to not always communicate between the nodes. I was on node 1 and could send messages but could not recieve messages from node 2 (I spied and they were definately sending messages). I also noticed I would not get so-and-so lands on planet, ports or whatever when in the same sector. Is this a known problem? I'm not sure if it is limited to node 1 or to my account specifically but I will do more testing if this is not a known problem. thanks!

Generally thats a problem with a corrupt TWMAIL.DAT file. Its usually caused by overactive gold aliens. Deleting the corrupt file normally fixes the prob.

Actually, that is normally a problem with the two connections being out of sync. That is, one connection thinks it's a different time than the other. The fix for this is to have both connections log out then back in, and that should be fixed. In general, it doesn't happen nearly as frequently in the newest version of TWGS as it used to.

The biggest reason it can become out of sync is if the time was changed on the twgs machine but do what K3 says and just have all log out not just of game but of server and reconnect

Time changes on the TWGS machine shouldn't cause sync issues anymore. A change was made that should adjust game times when the system time is changed. The problem is that trade wars keeps it's own time, based on the system time when the session starts. However, John made it so a system time change should adjust all current game sessions as well.

Harley Nuss-
thanks for the reply. I have the most update to date version of Tradewars. What I should I be doing to correct this problem? I don't have GOLD enabled and really the game was just banged so that's some fast corruption issues if that's the case. What can I do to prevent this in the future? Are there planned changes to solve this issue?

I have been restarting my twgs server a lot and it does not seem to stop the one-way communication. What am I supposed to do now? Export the data and start over?

Generally shutting down the TWGS then bring it back online will correct his problem. There is nothing you can do to prevent time sync errors. That being said, if shutting it down and starting it back up doesn't fix the problem, it may be a mail.dat problem. Go to the TWGS folder and delete the mail.dat file and bring the game back online, see if that resolves it.
