I am about to start a new evil player to be the red half of a mixed corp. Primary job of this player will be to MegaRob SSS ports after a worst-price buydown by the Blue player. I have never played evil myself and know only the basics. How much EXP will this player need to do a megarob of a max capacity port? Any special techniques needed? Any advice appreciated.

So long as the game is MBBS mode, the red doesn't need any experience to mega-rob. That's the cool thing about mega-rob :) A couple of things to keep in mind:
1) A red can only successfully mega-rob 3.3-6.6 million credits. The port can have more than 6.6, but the red will have to rob in that range, go rob elsewhere, then come back and rob in that range again.
2) The port only shows 90% of the cash that's on it. So if you take what it shows you and divide by .9, then truncate (just remove the decimal), that's how much is REALLY there that can be robbed.

I avoid confusion... if the port shows it has 3,000,000 to 6,000,000 credits on hand, multiply that by 1.1 to get the total amount you can steal. Try to steal any more or less, and you'll bust.

If the port has 7mil available and you want to rob it in two steps, rob 3-4mil, rob a DIFFERENT port for any amount, then go back for the rest.

Minimum amount is 3.34mil that can be robbed... you can do less, but its not too reliable. :)

I've found that the person buying down at worst price ideally should have near zero experience. If you choose your ports correctly, this is not an issue, but if you have a tough port to get 3mill into then you will get more worse(gr?) prices if the player is at 0 experience.

Is that something I can get? Vid ( http://geocities.com/videotees/hintstips.html )has one that's public, and I would like to compare the 2.

The safe minimum is 3.25M credits. The port will show 2.925M: as Harley Nuss posted; it hides 10%. If it has > 2.925M showing, divide by 0.90 and megarob the result. Forget the multiply by 1.10, 1.11 stuff, it is inaccurate. Multiply by 1.111111111111111 if you cant divide. Else you might leave an XXS, which appears shy by a few credits, to an opponent. Safe top limit is 6.5M, port will show 5.85M.

Gravedigr is correct. The lower a player's experience (<1000), the more the port will charge him. This also ties in nicely to the post I made last night in the weblog concerning worst-price bidding.

Certain days are better for Mega Robbing than others. I'll post some additional info to the weblog on the subject.

grave is correct on wanting to keep your experience as close to zero as you can when doing worst price buydowns. What's on CK's site is that your experience does affect the price your offered by a port (up to about 1000, after that it levels out). But in general the higher your experience the better prices the port will naturally offer - so for a worst price buydown keep it close to 0. This is why the blues do most of your buydowns, they are typically lower then your reds in exp.

The ask price is lower if you have high exp, howver, you can still overbid to the same acceptable offer - a zero exp blue might find a port where a 145% overbid is acceptable, a high exp red could overbid 146% at the same port, for the same acceptable offer, resulting in the same amount (more or less) of cash spent on the bdown.

True, the asking price is lower at higher exp. The maximum bid they'll accept is also lower. Technically, the overbid % is the same if you take away all of the random factors, but the price that a low exp player can pay is higher.
