Another trick is to cuss out the old trader in the Tavern, for using a swear word you lose 1 exp and 1 alignment. You can only do that once a day. Just be sure that your alignment can take the hit. Useful for taking a 1000 Exp with 1 Alignment to a 999 Exp with 0 Alignment. So be careful how you use that. If you have 0 alignment, you will go to -1 alignment.
You cannot get more than once a day for that. I repeat, you cannot do this more than once a day. Do not reply to this post and say that you can, ok?

Just be sure that your alignment can take the hit. Useful for taking a 1000 Exp with 1 Alignment to a 999 Exp with 0 Alignment. Too many cuss words will turn you red. So be careful how you use that. You might have to post a bounty on a Red in the Police Station at the Stardock to get your alignment back up if it does go red. 1000 Credits per alignment, so if you have a 1024 Exp, and cuss out the old Trader 25 times, spend 25000 at the Police Station on your own bounty or another Red to bring your alignment back up.
You can only lose exp/align once/day doing that.

Only good for losing 1 exp and one Alignment to knock a 1000 Exp and 1 Align to a 999 Exp and 0 Align then, or pay a 1000 Credit bounty at the Police Station to get the alignment back.
TW55's Merf with 10 fighters may be one of the only ways to lose experience by attacking the Stardock and getting podded, then Transport back to your other ship.

Assuming that you have not been podded already on a particular day, it is possible to lose 5/9 of your experience points per day, as follows:
Buy a personal Scout Marauder, put 3 units of corbomite on it. Buy a Merchant Freighter, put 10 figs on it. Tow them both to somewhere safe - one hop from Stardock if its a quiet game and nobody around, the important thing is to have your original ship beside them. Xport to the merf, attack the scout with 10 figs. The corbo on the scout will pod you and you lose 1/3 of your exp points. Xport back to your original ship. You are now at 2/3 of your previous exp. Repeat once if necessary, and you will end up at 4/9 of original exp.

Even better is to go red, and try to steal from the same port multiple times in a row. You lose 10% of your experience each time you "fake bust", so you can easily get to under 1,000 no matter how high your exp was to start (ok, it will take 80 turns if your experience is maxxed out at 4,500,000 - but that's a very extreme example).
Just make sure you have a plan in place to go blue again once you are below 1,000 exp - usually by hitting a red corpie's personal fighters.

my favorite way to raise/lower alignment is to attack someone withalot of alignment(wait long enough in sector 1 and everyone shows up eventually right?)...I've literally maxed out my alignment like this in no time...one of the first games I ever entered I found some corpies running some collie scripts and even tho they were only in sector 1 a few moments I was able to get some attacks off,(I imagine this is an isolated incident)but 5000 alignment in 5 minutes aint too bad...of course to lower it I just attacked players with the same alignment as me.this worked because I had very low align, they had very high AND I had the audacity to attack someone I coudn't really defeat...(I suppose it helps that they were afk)... One player I got,(Alexio) was in a coltran with alot of alignment and of course I coudnt pod him but attacking him period gave me a hell of a lot of alignment...

It is impossible to lower your experience points by attacking anyone, regardless of their alignment or experience.

I think Zipscrew's whole post was just a way for him to casually mention that he ACTUALLY powered up on Alexio so he could impress everyone. He obviously meant alignment... how this is relevant to a topic on exp. i have no idea.

Actually,.. Survey, your right on the money,...of course I MEANT alignment...and I didn't know it was considered impressive to "power up" on Alexio...I was really sorta lettin him know who did that to him since he prob didn't know and speakin of casual mentions,...I powered up on you several times that same game,(you, and spangler, and a few others)I even podded someone but I was still learning the game WAY back then,(2 months ago) and now I see who the big dogs are so next time you see me I prob won't be "practicing",..(hehehe)see you on Halloween, right?...

Yes, it still works, but you must meet the alignment restrictions to get into the underground, or they simply turn you away. I think you need less than 200 alignment to get in. After 4 failures, they beat you up, take your cash, and you loose 1/2 your experience. The 5th time, they kill you, and you end up #SHIP DESTROYED#

I think it might be less then 200 blue.. but yes they mess you up pretty good if you don't give the right password... Doing this or should i say having them murder you at SD is the easiest and cheapist way to go back blue... But do this right before tern and you should go back to 0/0 when they kill you...

Zip, tactics like that can get you killed in a game. Granted, you're building your exp and align but you're also aggrevating everyone you're podding. Eventually, these same players will pay you back.
