Is there a risk for traveling through Fedspace while evil? For example will random feds take potshots at you? or worse, the stardock or something?

YES there is a risk to traval through fed space , but not from
the feds , its other players hunting the red.
The feds will only bother you if you attack another player will low exp that is fed safe or a good alien with low exp.
First they give you a warning the first try , then the deduct figs and holds for doing it the second time.
But as a RED , just be carefull when others are online unless you have an alience with them.
Good luck in your games.

Actually, the feds won't ever do anything but warn you for attempting to attack another player in fedspace. The only way they will punish you is if you try to leave fighters or mines in fedspace, and you will get no warning then. Will lose 10% of you holds and figs.

Federation commission required ships that your piloting current will be confiscated while in flight, in and out of fedspace.
However there are ways to keep in control, it requires a good setup.

However, if you lose your commish while in a commish req. ship, you can remain in the ship as long as you only travel to sectors where you have figs, best advice is to xport to a nearby ship and get your commish back asap. As long as your align doesnt drop below 500, you can just go to the police station and apply for a commish, and it'll put you back to 1000.

You can get blown up by zyrain on your own figs, has happened to me before. Zyrain is quicker at blowing you up the further below 1000 alignment you drop

Unfortunatly this is true likwid. Feds will avoid sectors that are manned with advanced planets however. Well, organized movement with teammates and/or set routine passage ways can be arranged to enable you safe productive manuevering. In lower turns gaming this is a circumstance action but viable as a versatile offensive technique. <<< veg >>>

True...I went to -4.5Mil alignment in a fed restricted ship and even on my own fighters Capt Z killed me in 5-6 hops. Just did it to see if it actually worked.

Hmm.. Sorry about my incorrect post then. I made that post based on the following at tw-cabal:
"36) If you are a Blue, and you have an ISS, as long as your alignment is not negative (zero is ok), you can move around and your ship won't get repossessed. If it ever goes negative, even to -1, your ISS will get shot out from under you by the Feds. You can avoid this if you only move to sectors where you have an existing fig. My advice is to x-port out of the ISS and fix your alignment asap."

That isn't true either. Zyrain will pop you over planets (even advanced ones) as well.

Well, I will make a quick update to clarify this a bit. Things do seem to be behaving differently under version .55 than they did when I last tested this. (Which was several versions ago...Gotta love "undocumented changes" [:D])
Initial testing confirms that you CAN still run around in an ISS while evil, but not for very long. There are a lot of things that you need to do before hand. There are restrictions on how you move, how far you move, if you transwarp, and what kind of figs you have under you. Even taking all the precautions that USED to work for me, I still managed to get podded after about 10 moves. (although I may have made a mistake on that last move...lol...I have to run the tests several more times...)
I am going to be researching this a bit more. I will post the results in my next update. In the meantime, my advice is x-port out immeadiatly if you discover your alignment goes negative and you are in an ISS.
The feds appear to be a bit more forgiving if your alignment doesn't go below zero. I'll include some more on that angle as well when I make my update.
Thanks for pointing this out!

Try testing with different degrees of evilness, also, try exiting and entering the game.

Kemper, I will check that out too.
Page is updated, so it shouldn't lead people astray. Sorry to anyone who might have gotten blown up as a result.

Still your best bet is to not move, if you have a corpie online have them get a ship to you, or if you have a spare ship and its in transport range, transport to it. if it is not in range make a macro to warp you to it or within transport range then transport to your safe ship. making a macro will do it fast enough as not to get caught by the feds. You are safe as far as I know until you move.
