I use the following macro to haul shields from SD to new level 5's, starting and finishing with a fully shielded ship over the planet:

l**^M cgt150 ^M qtnt1 ^Mq **** ^Myyps ^Mspc1500 ^Mqqq**** ^Myy

where the first wildcards are the planet number, the second set is SD sector and the third set is the planet sector.

It works fine with ANSI 'on', but is slow (obviously). ANSI 'off' and it is lightning but for some reason spins me through the following on arrival at SD:

"All systems secured, welcome to StarGate Alpha I", comes over your ship's intercom.
One turn deducted, 5994 turns left.

Where to? (?=Help)

You wander about the port but find nothing but locked doors and deadends.
You do notice some rather rough looking characters lurking about the place.
Maybe its not such a good idea to wander about without knowing where its safe to go?

You walk past row after row of space ships, ..................

Back on track and runs to conclusion fine.

Why is it so????

And, since I'm loaded with credits, is there any chance I could get bumped on the head and wake up broke???? And if so will the macro stall or zap me off someplace I prolly don wanna go lol

I could leave the credits in the cit and add tf200000^Mq while I'm in the cit, but I like to keep macros as streamlined as poss, and I think 200k cred is enough to attract a bump on the head anyways... and it still doesen't answer why I'm wandrin round lost in the first place, specially only with ansi 'off'................

find rylos or alpaha, one of the class o ports. put a fig down there then warp your planet there. I like to use a havoc to buy shields since it holds 3000, here is the macro I use.
cgt300;qqptc3000;ql; (buying sheilds with a havoc, run from the planet prompt make sure you have 3000 sheilds when you start.)
you may need to replace ; with whatever is enter in your helper.

With ANSI on you have to send that ^M (enter) to get past the [Pause] prompt you are given when landing on Stardock. With ANSI off there is no pause prompt, so you're sending an enter. Any time you send a character that is not listed on the Stardock's menu, regardless of the amount of credits you have on you, you run the risk of being mugged. You lose half your credits every time you are being mugged.

Actually, it is the animation display that gives you the pause. If you shut it off (cn2) you won't have the pause whether ansi is on or not. What I personally would suggest is turning cn2 to off and cn9 to all keys, then removing the ^m after the ps. This should make it go the fastest. In general, I would suggest always running with animations off. All they do is slow you down.

Good catch Kemper. I should have thought about that. My login script automatically checks to make sure ANSI is off and Animation Display is off whenever it connects, so I never have to worry about either one. So I didn't even consider the pause being from the animation setting instead of the ANSI setting.

Thanks for the correction!

The most efficient way to buy large numbers of shields or figs is by warping a Volcanic to Rylos or Alpha C, and buy/dump the shields and figs with whatever ship holds the most. This can't be done at Terra or Stardock, because you can't warp a planet into any Fedspace sector. In standard games, the Tholian is the most efficient Shield mover, and the ISS holds the most figs (IC's actually hold more, but can't land on a planet, of course). Whatever script you write to accomplish this, don't forget to have it verify Transwarp Locked! While you are in your home sector, Ferrengis or other players could destroy your beacon fig at Rylos before you warp back for the next loop, and the loss of this beacon fig can cause a script to do something undesirable, like move or blind-twarp you. I have written a ZOC script that does the following:
1. warps the planet you choose to Rylos (you have to put a fig there first)
2. Buys 1 million figs and dumps them on the planet (uses 20 loops in an ISS)
3. Warps planet back to home sector
4. Uploads the 1 million figs to space for Sector defense (script reads the screen to see how many figs are currently in the sector, and adds 50K to that value). Script will loop as many times as you want, and works best with Volcanics, as it does use a fair amount of planet fuel.
This script isn't very fast, but it can put 50 million figs into a sector in just a few hundred turns, if you have enough cash in the planet's Citadel Treasury (This script was developed for mature Corporations that have at least several billion credits banked, and can afford to buy a lot of sector defense figs). The script automatically withdraws and re-deposits the required cash, and also buys shields for your ship if it isn't at full shield capacity. E-mail me at lgcharlot@hotmail.com and I'll send you the script, also a related one that buys/dumps planet shields (at Rylos) and figs using a Tholian, ISS, or Havoc.

When I wasn't usin a helper I just wrote down the commands needed and typed them real quick - there's a buffer that lets ya get well ahead, so long as ya watch what yer doin' and DONT make a mistake, else yer likely to yawn, stretch, look up and find yerself totally wasted!

But honestly the best way is: get a helper!!. Even unreg most of them are pretty much fully featured an ya can use the scripts and/or a macro to get the job done quicker and easier. ;-)
