I am having a problem with getting tw2002 working on my bbs. I am using Synchronet v3.12. I have it set on synchronet, and attempted to follow the directions to set it all up with the instructions that came with it, also I found a site with the examples of screen shots, and how they should look. But it seems as though I am missing something. What is happening is, tw2002 is on #7 of Door Games, when anyone hits 7 and enter, the curser goes below the #7 as if it were loading, then returns back to the screen with the door game menu. I would appreciate any assistance on helping me getting my BBS up.
Thanks for your time,
Alteria

I am having the same problem and not just with Trade Wars. When someone hits the Tradewars on my BBS (also synchronet) they get the same. What is happening local is the game is running and I can bring up the dos app for it and see "Name?" and then it times out and closes. Then the user gets back to the door menu. I think I know what we need to do. I haven't messed with it yet but I do believe We need to get fossil drivers installed. I currently play on a bbs and I have been meaning to ask the sysop about this as he has about 200 door games up. But after reading all the docs I think we have to get a fossil driver. There are several out there to use. I am not sure where and when to run the fossil driver. I will experiment next week some time and email the sysop of the bbs and when I get it working I will imform you.
That all I can do for now.

See, now thats what I was thinking is that it was the fossile, because I am having a similar problem with LORD. The documentation for Synchronet states it has its own fossile drivers and if we install an outside source, it will interfere wtih the bbs. Let me know what you find out, and thanks for the information.

First things first, you need a batch file to run TW2002 with the correct settings...My suggestion is using a DOS command prompt and using 'EDIT'.
This is for a single game:
-----BEGIN-----
@ECHO OFF
C:
CD\2002D309
SET EXTMAX=1024
TW2002 TWNODE=%1 VIDEO=SLOW MULTITASK=YES
-----END-----
However, those who use the BIGBANG DATA=C:\xxxxx\ setting (Read TW2002's document named TWSYSOP.DOC) for more information:
-----BEGIN-----
@ECHO OFF
C:
CD\2002D309
SET EXTMAX=1024
TW2002 DATA=C:\2002D309\GAME1\ TWNODE=%1 VIDEO=SLOW MULTITASK=YES
-----END-----
Again, put these files in the directory with TW2002.EXE and TEDIT.EXE, save the batch file as something like 2002D309.BAT.
Synchronet settings:
First enter the BBS Config screen, then goto
-> External programs
-> Online programs (Doors)
-> Games (Or whatever menu you stored it in)
-> Available online programs
-> Trade Wars 2002 v3.09
Name : Trade Wars 2002 v3.09
Internal Code : 2002D309
Start-up directory : C:\2002D309
Command line : C:\2002D309\2002D309.BAT %#
NOTE: The %# sends the current twnode to Trade Wars 2002, remember
the %1 in the batch file? Thats what it is for.
Multiple concurrent users : Yes
Use shell to execute : Yes
BBS Drop File Type : (See below)
Hit enter on this setting then select GAP (DOOR.SYS)
Say NO for Use Real Names (Unless Synchronet is setup to not allow
aliases)
Say NO for Lowercase Filename as well.
Place Drop File in : Node directory
NOTE: Everything else should be set to no, if you wish to change anything else, please refer to the Synchronet documents (vert.synchro.net).
TW2002 v3 settings:
O (O, as in Oh! -- node settings)
1 (Replace 1 with 2, 3, 4, etc for each you wish to edit)
<B> Path to Node file: C:\SBBS\NODE1\
(Replace C:\SBBS\ with the path you installed Synchronet to)
(Node 2 is NODE2\, etc)
<C> BBS Drop file type: 7 (DOOR.SYS)
<I> 2 (Fossil)
<F> Fossil port 1 to 254: 1 (Replace 1 with 2, 3, 4, etc for each node)
Thats it! If you still have problems email me your AIM screen name or a screenshot of Synchronet settings and TW2002 settings.

Also if you need more help on setting up the TWGS and Synchronet, try contactint the sysop of Toadville BBS, Todd may be able to help you as well. He runs a synchronet BBS. Here is his Email. His name is Todd Percival at this Email: tperciva@charter.net
Hopefully he can help you out as well, if you have anymore problems.
