Hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I can find (download) some new ships for TW. I'm looking for new ANSI Pictures for some new ships?? Any ideas? I have a couple, and I'm trying to make some with TDraw, but I would like to have some others from other creators out there. Thank you for all your help!

I have been to a site that had several nice ansi ship edits and i cant find it. Maybe some one else has been there. He had Borg and 3-4 others. Hope this jogs someones memory. If i find it i will post. Wish i book marked it DOH!

I've searched high and low for ship ansi's that would work in twars. I know that some game ops have some killer ones, but it's my guess, they are keeping them (I know I would).

I tried my hands at ansi creation and they are so bad they look like a 5 year old coloring with big crayons

I tried bmp and gif conversion to ansi, and let me tell you, I'm in awe of some of the examples I've seen on the internet of this type of conversion because when I did it... it looked like a 5 year old coloring with a big crayon

The ansi's aren't important, the ship's description is what matters (when you are creating ships).

its a text based game.. who looks at pictures?!

well there out there i got a couple samples but i didnt download the complete sets, Dumb on my part. very well done too. and some people do look at the ansi, and some sysops like to make a game complete. its like a nail can hold your bath towel, but some people like a nice looking towel rack

Thanks for the imput everyone! I know that its just a text based game, but I always look at the pic's. I just think its an added bonus for the players, it looks nice when the extra trouble is taken to add the ansi pic's for the ship discriptions. Well if anyone finds any, please let me know and I will do the same! Thanks again!

I believe you may be thinking of Pink's server. Which is currently down and he is in the process of rebuilding stuff.

I don't have the server up so that people can take a look at them but I have just finished a pair of ANSI's for my rendition of a Galactic Cruiser (read: Galaxy class) and an Imperial Explorer (read: Intrepid class) and they seem to be working just fine. I don't know if anybody would want them, but I'd be up for trade and heck, I might just give them away I don't know.

As far as making them, definitely use "TheDraw". I've used that so many times before, back when I had my BBS and had to do menus and everything else. Great program, very easy to learn and packed with features. I did notice that when saving ship ANSI files it seems to throw in a long gap and then some characters at the end, but if you open the ANSI in a text editor and remove that "oddity" it will display perfectly. There's probably another work around but I'm too lazy and this works for me.

Also, as a side note, I found some ANSI's on an old backup of mine and I can't really remember where they were from. I *think* they ended up in some log files I had from a game on "The Orchestra!" (?) but I have no idea if they're still operating. I'd like to use the ANSI's on my server when it's up, but I'd prefer to get permission from the original creator (presumably said system's admin) first. Does anyone have an URL / telnet address for that place? Maybe just an email address to contact whoever used to run it?

Anyway, if you want to see the ship ANSI's that I'm doing I'll see what I can do about transfering them to jpg or something so I can post samples and you can see if it's anything you're interested in. Again I'm up for trade or something. Drop me PM or something if interested.

Listen you've been quick to help me on other things. That's why I'm making this offer to you. I've gotten pretty good at making ships in the format for Twars (along with stats and such). They are looking great and they are extremely useful. Vid Kid walked me through using "the draw" and I visited his site and he had some awesome graphics for his ships. I used his as a template to create ship descriptions that are creative and useful.

I will make ships for you. Just describe for me what you want and I will try to make them to order.

Well I am really just wanting several sets of original ship sets for different aliens. Say 3 or 4 ships for 2 or 3 different types of aliens. Sort of along the lines of the Ferringi...maybe some Romulan style ships or some ship styles from Star Wars and such! Be Creative! Thanks for anything that you can come up with. I am working on a couple ships myself, using The Draw! If I come up with anything that other folks would like I will post pics of them somewhere, none are even near finished yet!

Here's what I've got. I've got really nice ansi description files for each stock ship. I redid them using Vid Kid's template (and I even fixed a scrambling problem he was having when viewing them text only). These descriptions eliminate the written text in the box to the right and replace them with the stats on the ship that aren't listed in normal ship's stats. I did the same with all the stock planets, plus I have customized original planet descriptions.

I've also got about 5 different renditions of the ISS with various names, in the same format, about 3 renditions of Havoc, the Starmaster, several different renditions of each stock ship to match my edits. I've got pirated starships, super starships, Scorpian renditions, and a bunch of Customized ship renditions including some pretty fine Borg Sphere, Borg Cube, Borg Scout, and Borg pods. And about 20 different escape pod renditions.

I'm going to make them available on my web site soon, but if you email me a specific request I'm more than happy to fire off an email with the ansi and text desc files.

I've also got really nice Alien descriptions of Ferrengi, Borg, Cube, and some custom aliens.

It's up to you, I'm willing to share my hard work.
