When you come onto the server there's an option for "game description," however, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to write a description for my games and insert it.

Also, at Stardock, at the LIBRARY, under alien races history, there's a "description" however, I've NEVER been able to figure out how to write a description for my alien races and place it there.

Can anyone help with this?

Unsure on the alien races, but the game description file is specified under Configure and then the Game tab. Select the game you want a description file for, then right of the box labeled extended info, click file and choose the file you want for the game description. Perhaps someone else can help with the library races? I'm someone interested in that myself.

When it comes to the Librarium description of the aliens, we may have to ask Gary Martin or JP shrug, because in the entire time I've been playing I've never seen a game where you get anything but "no information" when clicking on the history description of alien races. This kind of says to me that no one has ever been able to figure out how to write a description and store it, and assign it to this menu option.

Hehehe , I'de first like to invite you to game D or E on my server ,
But first you will need to register and request a game to come look.

The SD library is nice for alien planet and ship dicriptions , but alot of work for sysop to assemble.

I've taken the time to do ships and planets for players and hope more sysop's will follow in example.

I am tired of trying to keep up with web pages of game discriptions
and the area is best used for game rules as is the Announcements.

So leaving the in game info for players to find seemed a logical sollution.

I think you forgot to tell them how to edit the game to put in the descriptions in the library.

I know you can edit the files in the ANSI directory of a game to have custom descriptions of modified GOLD ships.

It would be nice to know all the files you can modify to customize a game.

Just looking at the alien editor, I'd guess it'd be options I and J under tab 6.

Now why didn't I ever notice those options before? I guess it's cuz I wee taaaded!

hehe, I still don't know if that's it, but with vid kid saying it's possible, that was the thing that looked most likely under the alien editor. I personally dislike the gold aliens, so I've never much bothered to learn how to even begin to configure them.

Ok , sorry I didn't say.

The game descriptions are under config / server options to point to directory or files.

The alein dicriptions are located at the end of the alien gold options.

Use the last discription .. .txt only .. but here is a twist .. make pages in THEDRAW and rename it with .txt at the end.

Then with or without ansi on ..from players side ..things work much smoother and look the same and will display properly in the SD libray.

I hope that covered what was asked ..

And as a side note, I'de hope to see more games with this style of
game information displayed for users to find.

It's an old ansi, text program from the BBS days. I still have my old copy and have been experimenting with making some new ship designs for TW. When I ran my WWIV BBS I used it to make custom menu screens. It's pretty cool, once you figure out how to use it.
