Hello. I recently setup a small (10 node, 150 user) telnet bbs for nostalgic purposes, and my users have been complaining about serious lag and/or being booted from TW when attacked by or while attacking online and offline players. I'm not sure what may have caused this, as I am running a P4 1.5ghz with 512mb DDR ram on Windows 2000 (TradeWars DPMI mod) and haven't had any such problems with LORD / Usurper. I will paste in some snippets from my error log that I think are relevant, and the result of the "@" command in-game. Thanks in advance!

I know yesterday was real bad for lag everywhere. I am not sure it was just you. Are they haveing any better of a time today?

Nope, the lag/booting appears to be centered around player vs player battles. I think it has something to do with the file-locking errors above, but I'm not entirely sure how to correct it..?

Well, from what I'm seeing...is it a problem in the .dat file? Does it occur in all your games or just 1?

It happens in all games. I just "updated" my synchronet dosxtrn and fossil drivers, so we'll see if that helps at all.
