Just wondering what kind of connection speed one needs to run a decent TWGS server. In my apartment next year I'll have a 512kbps/256kbps (up/down, comes with the lease) with a static IP that I really won't be using since I'm going to get RoadRunner (it's got a 1.5mbps downstream, and I'm a speed freak, don't ask). I also have an extra 1GHz Athlon 256MB Linux box that I can use for it so it's just a matter of whether or not I can run it off the built in ethernet connection I get. Thanks.

You should be ok on that connection for at least 20-30 regular players without a problem. That is, 20 to 30 players online at one time.

You should have a fast server with the 700mhz setup. I run mine on a dual 500 with 512megs of Ram and 1.5down/768k up line. I believe the bandwith is the most important part. Anything 300mhz and above should be a good twgs setup.

I currently am running a 700MHz with 256 Ram, and Cable internet connection with 1mb down and 128k up and it works just fine. I also have a bunch of other internet services running on it and it doesn't slow it down a bit. I just have to watch my downloading when someone is playing. Like downloading a huge file would affect it pretty good. I run thru just a standard switch with a 10/100 Card...

I am currently running a dual p3 800 for my twgs server and a single p3 800 for my test server. both are on the network running both 10 and 100. Mine 2 are on the 100. I am two hops off of our T1s so it is nice. The connection is what really makes the difference. If I got 40 people on each machine it would be hard to tell the difference which was the dual and which was not.
