When installing this program, what port do people use to connect to it. Is it the stadard "port 23"? If it is, can this be changed? I run a bbs using synchronet software that resides on port 23. If TWGS cannot change, I need to find another solution.

When you first install TWGS , it defaults to port 23.
This can be checked with server off .
Under Configure... tab , and under Server.

With your BBS frontend you will need to set TWGS to port 513
RLogin.

TWGS is very configuable , but be careful .
I've found that port 23 is common telnet as well as 2002.
But those running frontend BBS's need to use port 513 in RLogin.

Hope this helps.

Well, I run a bbs, but I will not be using it as a front end to TWGS. I am not even sure how to do that. Regardless, I plan on continuing to run them both.

I would like to setup TWGS to use a different port and then call it accordingly from my website. Can this be done?

With the server offline, go to configure, then click on the server tab. Where it says "Game Port" select the port you want and make sure the protocol is set to telnet.

Thank you. What is the RLogin option for?

Secure connection to the TWGS using a front end service such as a BBS. When connecting to the TWGS via RLogin, you can not connect from outside of the front end via direct telnet. Helpful if the TWGS is a feature to a BBS rather a priority stand alone unit.

bitg,

are you using teh windows based synchronet BBS or the DOS base?

If you are using the windows version. Setting it up to be the front-end to TWGS is very easy. And it only take a couple of minutes to do. But, as stated, setting TWGS for rlogin will only allow logins from a rlogin front-end client.

Many sysops out there prefer to have all their players to connect through a bbs. As it would help with stopping the possible duplicate accounts, as many children want to have, in your games.

As to allowing your TWGS server to be accessed from your website. That really is not possible. As TWGS uses a telnet/rlogin connection. There is no other possible type of connection to TWGS.

You could create a link on your website to open a telnet client and automatically connect to the server. Or use the, now unsupported, J-TWAT java based telnet TW helper. With this you could setup on your website a java based telnet connection to your server.

If you wish to setup synchronet to connect to your TWGS/TW2002 server. Just email me, or ICQ me. And I'll help you out on that.

Wabbit, I appreciate the offer. I am running the Windows version of Synchronet running right now and already have 2 TW games setup. I registered the TW software so that I can leave the version I am running an use a legit copy. Anyway, I already have it working right now so do not need help in this area. As for duplicate accounts, I really don't mind if they want to do that.
