Is it just me or are dupes out of control these days? So many new players that just don't understand the rules of the game.

I've been playing a lot of unlims lately, and when I get to a point where I think I have won, I will block off fed so new and returning players are trapped. This I have learned is the BEST way to find the dupes. And every single one of them justifys it saying that I am cheating by blocking fed.

I just started a game at Memphis yesterday, killed every person in the game and then blocked fed. In no time there were dupes coming in the game to punch through the blockade.

And you know what they always do is go straigt to their homeworld. And they will do this with multiple accounts within minutes of each other like no one will figure it out.

Am I the only person who notices this? Has it always been this bad and I just never paid much attention? I never use to setup blocks, so maybe that is the reason.

This is one of the members of corp 1 who had been winnign the game before I entered, That Chevy Nova planet was their main lv5. I think the saddest thing here is that he couldn't even remember his corp pw! LOL

Obvioulsy all 3 are the same person, since they all went to the same place within 15 minutes, and within about 1 minute of joining the game.

And I would just like to add, how do all you sysops not recognize stuff like this?

I sometimes think some of these boards are so desperate for players that they will look the other way, or let them get away with a slap on the wrist.

Good example was a dupe on Hekate's board that admitted he duped, and then him and a bunch of players cussed the hell out of me saying it was no big deal when I told them I was going to report it to Hekate.

I of course thought the guy would be banned... but nothing happened. I sent in screenshots of the conversation, etc. Don't know what the hell is going on there.

First, I have been on several boards where duping has been a major problem. Some Sysops, sadly enough, will look the other way if they are desperate to get new players in the game. Some of the more honest Sysops will look for dupers and take the offence rather seriously. Currently, the Reverend has a program that will look for people who are duping by compairing ISP's that appear whenever somebody logs onto the telnet session. Thus, finding out which people are using more than one account. Some Sysops require that you register your handle before they grant you access. My advice to you is that if duping on the board you are playing on has become that much of a problem, then perhaps its time to find another board to play on. Perferably one where the Sysop activly seeks dupers. One board that I know for fact that does not approve of dupers and activly searches for them is http://www.coastgames.com. Jerry runs a program to catch them. If you decide to come on over to play, drop me a line and let me know. Perhaps we can corp togeather or something. My handle on the board is the same as it is on this one.

There's not much you can do about it except report it when you see it and move on if the board doesn't do anything about it.

If everyone who didn't like dupes (me and quite a few others) refused to play the boards that didn't do anything about them, those boards would probably shape up -- after all, they're looking for as many people to play as possible, not as many logins to play (or are they?).

It would be nice if the server had capability for posting notices from the sysop on the welcome screen that displays the games available -- is this a feature I just don't know how to use? Then boards that actively hunt dupes could announce it.

Also, I don't think hunting down different log ins that connect from the same IP helps that much -- when I can get friends/roommates to play, they often do so through my computer. I have no idea how many different people use the same computer to play TW versus how many only do this when they are duping, but blocking an IP address from having more than one login isn't the whole answer -- it does hinder some players when we want as many people to play as possible.

That is the easiest way to tell if someone is duping. If you want multiple people to play off of the same IP, you need to speak with the sysop before hand and get it approved.
