 Possible New TW2002 Game

I am considering starting a new TW2002 game on my server. But that is only if I can get a decent number of people say they would play.

This will be an old style game, with some possible tweaks to the game that are found internal, no Scripts
Many Scripts have degraded the game play

20K sectors

I am open for ideas and suggestions from everyone as to how the game should be setup to hopefully peek the interest of everyone.

ok I went ahead and started it feel free to let me know what you think it has plenty of turns and sectors to allow for long game play and more suggestions to me to edit the game more to your liking telnet to 67.174.171.69

Ok, I looked at this game a bit. I'm still learning to size up a game from the settings available prior to game entry.
I got that this was a Gold enabled, non-MBBS game.
5000 sectors w/ 10,000 turns 45 max course (that matter much?)
No Photons.
Col Regen 800 (is this per day? hmm)
Trade Percent = 60% (is this planetary trading?)
Rob Delay=True
Bust Clear= 7days

As I enjoy a reddish lifestyle, I got lost at the Rob Delay and non-MBBS... I also think photons make things more fun.
What do internal aliens/Ferrengi do?
Anyone else have 'things to look for' when checking out a game?
I guess I feel a bit more open about posting on this as it is in Open Discussion rather than Rebangs.

5000 Sectors?? are you meaning this is what you prefer as compared to 20k?
Me personally I always liked alot of sectors but of course am open
Are you saying my photons are off??? if soo hmmm (that they were on)
Col Regen is 800 per day on terran
yes that is planetary trading 60%
Rob delay if I am not mistaken just puts a small 2 or 3 second delay in game to make it look like your player went to go steal and your waiting to see if it was success
non mbbs (i may be wrong) is cause I am using the TWGS program and nothing more

I am very sorry. I missed that entirely, and alas, as for scripts; I don't leave home without them.

Sounds like an interesting game though.

I only mentioned the 'No Photons' as the Photon Duration set to 0 secs.

A small 2-3 second delay may not sound like much until you multiply that by the number of turns available for a red to steal. I am not sure if I am in the minority of detesting rob delay, but it does not add anything to the game for me - just the opposite in that the game takes even more time to play. Couple the delay with a 7 day bust cycle and the game is a pass.

Having said the above - some may like this type of game and it is always good that there is variety available.

I am also primarily an unlimited game player so speed is critical, and that is one reason that rob delay is something I stay away from.

How do you plan to enforce the no scripts rule? If I'm reading that correctly.
5000 sectors was the max in the classic (prior to gold) settings wasn't it?
I think the colo regen hurts the blues, but the rob delay and no MBBS settings don't really ballance that out I don't think. But the 7 day bust clear in a small universe will make most reds walk away.
It's an interesting concept, I'm just unsure if it will fly.

I dont have anyway I enforcing any rule or having any policy of using scripts and helpers. Just a request is all I can do for the time being. I have rebanged and changed many settings in the game to hopefully lean towards some of the things that have been suggested by all of you. Have a look and let me know how it looks..... Also if something you mentioned didnt get changed (which very well is possible) please let me know little more detail on how certain settings effect what so i have better understanding on what your looking for

oh and about the col reg and 7 day bust I put the col at 20000 per day now (what would be a good number?) and 7 has been reduced to 1 sectors is at 20000 and mbbs is enabled

OutsideR, don't get discouraged if not many show up. There are so many games out there that the players are rather spread out, and servers like yours and mine are more sideshows for those players board between games. Our day is coming when we can hit on some groups that like our sites, and they draw others. But we need to bide our time until then. Now that I've said it, I need to convince myself of the same!

I came in took a quick look...I would turn off the move delay..most TW players dont like delays of any sort in thier playing...I also only play with macro's and scripts..and i hate High Turn or unlimited turn games..On a side note U dont need to have Mbbs to have a 1 day bust clear....Mbbs enables the monster Mega Rob ....
So sometimes its better to adjust your steal/bust clear settings without turning on mbbs...everyone like different settings though...
Best to offer more then one game to attract the different players and even if u do everything 100% right There is no activety guaruntee..

Thank for the info I suppose I am more interested in figuring out more about setting and what they do. Not entirely trying to get people to play (although that would be great) but more on the lines of what people want out of a game. So that when the time comes as proton says "are time comes" I will have good idea actually I think I found it at a level so far that seems decent enough.

On a side note as you said Space thats really all I am looking for the time being is maybe being a side game a person will play from time to time

Well, let me ask a question. Do you know what kind of TW games you like to play OutsideR? Because that's what I would bang on my server.

I like 60% PTrade, since it encourages SST.
I like a 1 sec rob delay, as it enhances at keys play... suspense and all.
And I like no-offensive scripting, but to say no scripting is sorta unrealistic.
I'm not a fan of the Mega-Rob beast, and feel it detracts from the fun of a small-corp, low-turns game.

Too many games today are edited to optimize script usage, which makes at-keys play dull. I think delays can add to the experience of at-keys play. But keep the turns fairly low if you are gonna implement delays. I think a 5k universe should generally have 500-1000 turns, with 800 being my favorite. With 800 turns, 3-5 day bust clearing is reasonable. With 2 or more reds/team, bust-clear duration is moot anyway.

I hope that's helpful. They're not really suggestions, but rather settings that I've enjoyed in the past.

I dont think that it is possible to police a "no script" rule against those who write their own scripts; against scripters, it is probably possible.

MBBS also has a nice setting on fighter hits not messing with alignment, but you can set the standard game to use MBBS mode for that. The downside to it if you are corping is that you can't flip the players on your corp by deploying personal fighters.
