 I have TWX Proxy 2.02 AND Combat Pack 2

Does anyone have the final word on what I should be using now that TWX Proxy requires authentication and no authentication server exiats? I use This AND combat pack 2.

I'm looking for the definitive response to make the Combat scripts or there replacements to work with TWX Proxy either 2.02 or what ever version I should be using now including the location to download it and the instructions on how to install it so that it doesn't create any fatal errors.

The authentication server is still up and working. But you can get twx203 which is free now and ck released his scripts for free for 2.03. Also check http://www.grimytrader.com/ for ck's and many other free scripts

I also have a registered 2.02 and the authentication server doesn't recognize it and unlock servic pack 2 on it and it is frustrating so I got 2.03 and now looking for appropriate scripts and found some at Grimys as well, if you need something like this then see Grimys, they might have just what you need!

To "ANIMAL" If the Authentication server is up amd ruinning why do so many people get the error message that our combat pack 2 scripts won't work because we are not registered even though we clearly are?

As you can see from the variety of posts this is currently a wide spread issue.

I just tried twx 2.02 at a game i am testing in and these scripts all worked just fine at 7:21 pm
2_BuyDown.cts
2_WorldSSM.cts
2_WorldTrade.cts
__ck_lawnmow.cts
__ck_superphoton.cts
all of which require the authentication server so i don't have a clue what is wrong with yours. Maybe the server was down when you tried or maybe a network path issue

if you are asking about cherokees combat pack he released it for 2.03 for free although i haven't used all of them but for the most part they work fine

2.02 compiled scripts (.cts) will not work with 2.03 as far as I know. Someone had a recompiler that would convert the 2.02 scripts to 2.03, but I really haven't heard much about it other than it is supposed to exists.

I am not sure if the public scripts that CK posted are the same as combat pack 2. I used one of his scripts in a game with aliens and it launched on an alien hit. It is possible that some other script had to be run prior to using that script.

I may be wrong, but I heard that someone was trying to get the help of scripters to rewrite the twx 2_ scripts for the new twx.
Dont know what happened with it or if it is still going on. But seems like a good idea.

As someone that has looked into the 2.02 vs 2.03 problem, one of the reasons is that Xide's choice of alphabetizing the function calls broke backwards compatability. For example (all numbers are made up) LoadSector in 2.02 might compile as 23 but in 2.03 the number "could be" different. I mean could be because if Xide didn't add any function calls before LoadSector was added it would compile to the same bytecode. But if he added a new function call(s) before LoadSector then the bytecode will be different.

Conversion is difficult (as I have no list of when functions were added)

A back of envelope algorithm would be to create lists of function calls/system variables that are pertinate to whatever version and have the interperter used the appropiate list. The downside of this is that you have to allocate extra memory for having parallel lists.

IMHO the easiest way to "fix" this problem is have a trusted member recompile the 2.02 scripts to bytecode or even the original author.

But that introduces bugs Xide also changed some math precision which I have personally seen fubar ck's buydown script.

As for the future I would like to see TWXProxy rewritten in a language I am actually familiar with C/C++/C# as my Pascal capabilites are about 15-20 years old. (I was in the last class that had to endure that the next year they switched to turbo C)

Unfortunately I still enjoy playing which takes time away from trying to improve TwxProxy.

Please don't take this as being anti Xide he used whatever tools he had available and made a great program, but being a single developer his choice of data structures was less than stellar.

I am working on a Pathfinding routine in C# which loads the warpspec.txt file and creates a graph data structure (which I can understand but am not fluent enough in to get a working routine.
I have found a path using a breadth-first search but am having problems saving the path. I have looked at the source for PlotWarpCourse but am having problems converting it to C#. If anyone knows a magic trick I am all ears but due to RL my time is scarce.

Once more I give Xide warm fuzzies and high fives for the time he has invested in helping out the community.

All of the pack two scripts were released uncompiled when 2.03 was released.

Yes but those pack 2 scripts are for the 2.03 and not 2.02. I have a lot of .02 compiled scripts that now need to be converted to .03. Boy it is going to be a pain, but it has to be done. Now if I had a converter of some kind then it would be a snap. Oh well so much for wishful thinking.

Yes VULCAN I have the same issue. Several scripts written by those far more capable then I (Like WildStar or KrimsonBlade etc.) No longer run since I upgraded to TWX Proxy 2.03

I paid for any and all programs I used that had a license fee like TWX Proxy or Cherokee's scripts and have ALREADY gotten my moneys worth from them.

However I like the scripts I have been using and have grown relatively used to them. So if someone can come up with a conversion tool that will convert all *.cts files to the usable *.ts format that, I believe, would fix the problem.

If anyone can assist OR if a fix already exists I would LOVE to know about it.

Thx in advance for any assistance with this issue and a well deserved thanks to those whose scripts and programs I'm already using like Xide Cherokee WildStar KrimsonBlade Rammar etc. etc.

By the way, if it helps, this is the error message I get when I try to use most of my old scripts.

Script load error: Script file is an incorrect version

Get ahold of The Wabbit i beta tested his script convertor and it did a very good job on converting a lot of my special 2.02 scripts up to 2.03. I can't remember how many i did cause i lost most of my tradewars stuff a while back when i sold my computer. I was mainly using twx pro 2.10 when i got rid of everything and that version seemd to work better than 2.03
