Hey all, long time no post. I'm thinking about wondering about working on finishing j-twat 1.5, whose majority of code was finished 3 months ago. Ahh, the devil's in the details
Anyways, I've decided to move the script platform off compiled java scripts and towards a REAL scripting platform. I already support Rexx, but as far as I'm concerned, Rexx sucks. (No flames, just my opinion). Too many disadvantages that other languages do so well. But I give out much respect to the Reverend. After studying his scripts, I'm sure he's done some assembly programming at some point.
My personal choice for a language is Python.
1) Object oriented
2) Jython (Java Python), works well with java (J-twat's language)
3) Easy to read, easy to understand.
The reasons for my move are many. First, its easier to write & test a real script because there's no recompile/link. Two, its more accessable to the average person, who doesn't need any special tools that we don't include to make good scripts. Three, most of the bugs we get are script related, and are usually quick fixes that maybe someone would be kind enough to do themselves and send in.

Lastly, I think some people are duanted by "compilers", but don't seem to have a problem with "scripts" (there's a compiler involved, you just don't know it.

I would love for some of these schmos to make me some scripts.
So lets hear your ideal scripting platform if you could have one. Keep in mind that this form of scripting doesn't rely on waitfor statements, but most of the time is calling built in subfunctions to do most of the work.
I can support many different platforms, and am pretty much set on adding Python, but there's no reason why others can't be included as well.
Thanks,
badboy
