Is there a way of doing this legit? as in no helpers and such? if so, How.

Am i suppose to buy a million ether probs, and sit there sending 1 prob at a time to every sector intill i see a sector with only One other warp lane?

for bubbles, i havnt found any yet but i know if i find one the best way to make sure its secure is to put what i beleave to be the gateway on my avoid list and see if i can still get in, but how would i find bubbles?

sounds to me like its going to take alot of ether prob sending

how does all the pros do this, ive read the Cabal site, and a bunch of others....

K and then since doing this manually seems extremly hard what about helpers? whats the best, free, ones i can get that are easy to use?

Any help at all is appreciated

If only murder wasnt illegal...Id have alot less enemies...

Yup, e- probing or halo scaning would be one way to map without a script. or you could do it by hand but that would take forever. your best bet is to just register a helper. I would recomend swath if you are new. its only like 25 bucks or something and worth every penny. Im sure some of the others are good as well, I just have not used anything but swath and twx myself. I think most of them have a trial version that will work for a few days. I cant imagine playing without a helper.

Well, there isn't an easy way of doing it by hand. Swath has a decent ZTM that will assist in finding deadends and bubbles, and it has a nice visual map. It *is* worth every penny.

Voiding sectors is the best way to check for backdoors. For finding bubbles tho, you have to either use a helper, or get really good with a spreadsheet or database. I used to do it by hand, about 10 years ago, so it's possible. (shuddering at the memory...) I think you will find the helper route is the way to go. It's what the "pro's" do.

There are a lot of probe scripts available for ZOC and TWX that make probing less time consuming. One tip to save you money probing is to use a helper, like swath, to generate a list of the dead end sectors, and fire probes down them first. In an average 5k sector game there are around 1000 dead ends. By probing them first, you usually knock out about 60% of the map for the cost of 1000 probes. Then you fill in the gaps by probing off your unexplored list. Using this method, depending on the density of the other players fig clouds, it'll cost you about 10 million in probes for a 5k sector game, instead of 15 million. (Assuming the sysop hasn't done anything too screwy with the map, or raised the cost of probes.)

Other than that, you just gotta find them manually, or have someone else do the work for you, and hope they are your friend.

So lets say I want to find a bubble, but dont want to use a program. What would be the easiest way to do it by hand.

There is no Easy way by hand, but if you seriosuly wanted to map it by hand that requires writing EVERYTHING down, as in the warp points, and making, or attemptiing to, a basic map of where each sector leads to, if down right a bubble would be say sector 500 leads to 600 and 700, then from 600 theres 550 and thats a dead end, then from 700 theres 650 and thats a dead end, and thats it, that means its a bubble and sector 500 would be the entrance, to test your map goto computer and mark sector 500 as a avoid then try moving to 600 or 700 or 550 or 650 and it Should say there no route to it, this is a secure bubble

but as you can imagine doing it by hand would be insane. and i feel sorry for those that actually did it by hand once back in the day when this game first came to be. but it IS doable.
