I have seen this problem several times. The system doesn't to register when cannons are set. Here is the screen caps of what happened. This seems to be a common theme in the game. What is going on here!!!

And the other thing that i am worried about now is if the first thing is going to happen when i go to invade the other two planets??? Will they start to fire when at some point in the future. The 2nd photon doesn't say anything about them being dampened....Little help/advise here would be helpful.....

I looked real close to the logs you posted I don’t see anything wrong looks like the planets are firing cannons the way they should. Unless I'm just missing what you are having a problem with.

Can you explain a little more on what you think is happening wrong

In the first cap, you can see that I moved in with no photon and 3 cannons locked on to me but didn't fire(I had drained the first two so they had no ore). Once in sector, 254, I landed on the third planet in sector and cannon fired....So, i figured that it had atmosphere cannon on and no sector on. So after being podded, i moved into 254 again and the third cannon fired with full force. It didn't fire the whole time that i took out 20M figs in space, but once i landed it it like the system figured out that the cannon should have been firing in the sector.

Second cap: I mothed once and planets fired and did 200000 and 83333 points of damage, the second moth lived and did 176000 and 79166 points of damage. You can see in the cap that i lived and made into sector. The third moth that i took in did 200000 and 83333 points of damage, the exact same amount as the first moth.

Let me know if people still don't see what i am talking about.

ya, thats a horriblely annoying "bug"?
i've had it happen alot too. i dunno why, or why it doesnt get fixed, but sometimes planets defend themselves.
hell, whats really bad is when you drain the sector Qcannon to do no damage, and then you land and take a 300k hit. where'd the ore come from? its the Darn ghost on the planets. heh.

Photons only dampen the cannons if there are less than 200 planetary shields, as far as I know, so it makes sense that you're getting hit when you move photon-move into the sector. You'd have been better off reducing the shilds on each planet to less than 200 once you were in the sector, and only then photoning into it for invasion.

As far as the first log, it seems normal enough.. the 3rd cannon not firing initially, then firing full force could occur if there was someone on the planet changing the cannon settings. Such a someone would be protected from your photons if the planet is well shielded, though they don't need any turns to meddle with the cannons anyhow.

I'm not too sure about the message "The Quasar Cannon on <planet> locks on you." though.. I've seen it before where I've 'drained' a planet and then when landing it has plenty enough ore for a nice atmospheric blast. I'm thinking that there's either a random chance that a sector cannon won't fire, or (more likely perhaps) that it stops firing when the planet is reduced a certain %. Not sure on this at all; I should test it at some point.

It's a bug that's existed as long as I've been playing. As far as I know, it's never been able to be tracked down as to exact causes

DragonCultist, it is hard to get to shields when there are 20M figs in the air :) And they were abandoned planets, so no one was changing the cannon settings. The third planet that didn't fire had 200 shields and should have been firing the whole time. It didn't fire sector until I landed the first time.

And once again this is why this is GARBAGE! take a look. The cannon damage was reset a full day! I drained 5M ore from 2 planets and now by the mirical of the system, the first planet is back to full ore! Why the heck doesn't this get fixed. Take a look:

What the heck. This is the exact damage that i took from these planets yesterday when i first mothed. Poof, right back to where they were more than 12 hours ago. This is just silly. I know this has been around for a while. In my opinion this needs to be addressed. You spend time, resources and planing to only find out it didn't mean a Darn thing.

thats pretty much the way it always is with abandoned planets. dunno why, but ya, if they are abandoned, expect to use a full platoon to moth and take it in a day.

I think it happens on other planets besides rouge. A friend and I were taking some small M class and an L last week and the second firing of one of them (I’m thinking the L) was higher than the first and it was mere seconds apart. It would be interesting to do some test to see if it only occurs if the planets are full of ore.
I will say, things like this and little differences from game to game can keep things interesting. As soon as you think you have it down something comes along to second guess you :)

You can try to get the sysop to export the game and email it to JP, I guess. You might want to email him directly, also. Maybe he will be able to figure out what's happening.

Thanks Harley. I will do that. And I do know that it happends with other planets othe than rouge planets, but i have mostly seen it with rouge planets or planets that have people in the game, but they have been inactive for a while.

ya, it'll happen with manned planets, but its much more common and drastic with adandoned planets.
