I was told that in my A game, a 5k sector universe, there are at least 2 sectors that are seemingly detached from the rest of the universe. When anyone tries to go to these 2, they get 'no route' even after clearing their avoids. Is there any way other than rebanging which nobody in the game wants, to fix this?

Sure. In TEDIT, just hit S for Sector Editor, then <A> through <F>, add warps out of the sectors that are orphaned. Make sure you then go to those sectors and add warps in to the orphaned sectors.

Thanks EP. Think I can do that on the fly or should the server be down when I do it?

Do it with the server up, just let players know that some warps have changed, in case they want to ztm again.

It's also possible that the sectors aren't truly orphaned, but just that the course length is too long from their current location to reach there. This will often happen in games with tunnels and gold bubbles.

Ok. I went in to 'attach' those 2 orphan sectors and found they DO have sector numbers presumably leading out from them, so, I tried to get to those sectors and got the same message 'no route within 45 warps. clear avoids?' Now I find there's at least 9 sectors nobody can get to. When I banged the game I put 10 bubbles into the 5k game and 40 into the 20k game. Should I drop that number and does this mean I have to re-do the game setups?

Its worse than you think, but there is a simple fix. You have an orphan cluster of 134 sectors. To fix it, edit the warps for sector 2860, presently 875 2859 3195 3281 2467 4738 to read
2130 2859 3195 3281 2467 4738 (substitute 2130 for 875)

It may be a result of the large bubbles, there is a 128 sector, a 184 sector and a 190 sector.

EDIT: The fix will effectively add a 134 sector bubble to the game.

Was this banged in .58 or .55? If .58, could you xport a game archive of it and email it to me at kemper3 at roguesrattery.com?

Yes, was banged in .58 and yes, I can send export and send you the game files. I'm being told now that instead of the 10 bubbles I thought I put in the 5k game there's 40 in it. Also being told of the same thing happening in my D game, a 20k sector which in which I placed 40 bubbles.

It appears that orphaned sectors when using tunnels with gold bubbles in still a problem in .58. If you do want to use them, you'll have to manually edit in warp(s) to make them connect with the rest of the universe. Thank you for the .twa's, ahab.

What about black holes? Is there a way to avoid getting a CLUSTER of sectors from doing that?
