 Photon Delay broken

Excellent! We have a bug report! Might want someone else to test it since I really haven't messed with the settings much. Code: <1> Ship Move/Attack Constant (250 ms) <2> Planet Move None <3> Other Attacks None <4> Crime Delay None <5> Photon Launch Constant (2 s) <6> Photon Blast None <7> Ship IG None <8> Planetary IG None <9> Dock/Depart None <0> Land/Take off None <A> Drop/Take Mines None <B> Drop/Take Figs None <C> Planet Transport None <D> Ship Transport None <E> EtherProbe Scan None <F> GenTorp Launch None
[edit] photon blast may be the setting needed[/edit] [edit2] That was the setting - 6 to give warning.

 Re: Photon Delay broken
If I am reading it correctly the setting should be like this:
<5> Photon Launch None <6> Photon Blast Constant (2 s)
Option 5 reads: This option sets the Photon Missile launch delay. By default, Photon Missiles launches have no delay. With the CONSTANT option, the Photon launches at a constant speed as specified in the "Photon Launch Delay" setting.
Option 6: This option sets the Photon Missile detonation delay. By default, Photon Missiles detonate immediately on reaching the target sector. With the CONSTANT option, the Photon detonates at a constant speed as specified in the "Photon Blast Delay" setting.
A Photon Torpedo was just launched into this sector! ------ 5 Seconds Later ------ A Photon Torpedo just detonated! Photon Wave Duration : 5 seconds in sector 20298
A sysop that has been using these settings should have been able to test and verify if it was working or not. Sorry JP looks like Cruncher is crying wolf without testing "AGAIN"!

 Re: Photon Delay broken
You should test every setting before subjecting your players to them. A good sysop would. Took me less time to test than it did you to type up a report.

I guess you're the better sysop then, open you server back up to the public. I tested that setting when it first came out, I don't re-check every setting with every new wide release unless there's a report that it's broken.

Yeah, I messed up on that one. I saw the two settings and thought that would be it, but the third setting was the one necessary.

My first time in that part of T-Edit and it is a scary place. Still messing with a T-Edit script and I am glad that area is not a part of it.

Cruncher wrote: I guess you're the better sysop then, open you server back up to the public. Yes I know. As I have told you several times I never closed my server I only changed the Port which is posted on EIS website. I just don't advertise since I am still on 2.07.... I am just not comfortable with all the changes in 2.10 yet. Plus I watch a lot of Netflix which would render my server unplayable. But it is still there for testing, I will probably upgrade it this week as there are so many changes that testing on 2.07 is pretty much a waste for T-Edit scripts. Yes I know this is a slight derail but you ask Oh and I would have made the same comments to Prom if he was using the setting and had no idea what it did in an open game.

 Re: Photon Delay broken
Just curious what makes it so scary. I can always use feedback on how to make these things easier to learn and use.
I attempt to provide documentation with each setting rather than one big TEDIT doc, but if the descriptions are too difficult to understand, I'm open to suggestions on how to improve. I didn't focus-group these things or anything.

 Re: Photon Delay broken
I did read it twice before I tested, easy to get confused with all the new settings. Most seem pretty simple to understand, but as I did on Gen Torp Delay, it is easy to read one thing and think something else

 Re: Photon Delay broken
Do you think it would be preferable to always work in ms rather than convert to seconds, at least for the prompts? To keep the field from being too long, it's good to convert 1000+ ms to 1 s, etc. But in the actual command, I could expand that out so it's more consistent and less confusing.

Not sure how others feel but picking one standard is the preferred method, I like ms better since I am used to using it for scripting anyway and it gives more flexibility.
