Have you concidered a time "bank" to go with turn bank?

This just came to mind so I thought I'd throw it out there.

I know it's old hat to most of you, but for me turn banks are a luxury I rather enjoy coming from the use'm or loose'm turn days.

Is it possible to tie the turn bank setting to a time bank as well? Say 1 hour per 600 turns? Does that sound fair? I think that may give the game more of a classic "feel" to those who used to play single door games. But when you bank turns you must also bank the time so you can play those turns if you take a day or two off.

I don't know about tying time to turns, but it might be interesting to allow you to roll time over when you don't use it, up to a maximum amount, like we do with turns.

it seems to me that this would defeat the purpose of a time limit. i could store up a day and then spend it killing everyone who logged in.

Originally, the point of a time limit was to guarantee that everyone could get each day to play their turns, back when the game only allowed one player at a time. Nowadays the time limit is used to keep bots from monitoring the game 24/7. So while it might be useful to be able to roll over some time along with turns, it can't be so much that it defeats the purpose of time limits today. If time limit is 2 hours, maybe allowing you to bank to a maximum of twice that would be useful. I don't know that I'll do this, just thinking it through.

Us BBS Sysops use to run external doors that were "time banks". allows our users to bank their time so if they logged in one day and needed an extra 30 mins, then they could grab it from there.

If you do make something similar, give it some restrictions. Allow a certain amount to be deposited, allow a certain amount to be withdrawn/used per day. Otherwise, you might have people trying to circumvent it. Another idea is if you allow turns to convert into minutes, then specify a certain amount to equal a specific amount of time. Like I said, we use similar ideas on BBS software.

A very tight time limit. 1 min per 10 turns as an example. I'm thinking back when bbs door games were only allowed 1 hour per day, so a 500 turn game would get you 50 min. play time. if there's a two day bank you get 1:40 to play 1k turns. 3 day turn bank would mean 2:30 for 1500 turns.

I think this is more of what I ment but was too generous with the time bank in my first post.

A tighter time limit would simulate the restrictions of the old dial-up bbs if you wanted to play daily, but if you wanted to bank a day or two turns, why not bank the time as well? 50 min. per 500 turns sounds reasonable.
