The new 5K bang (A) under beta has a very strange map. Was this intentional, or is it typical of beta? Some examples: No bubbles (well, one big one, 5K). One 3 deep DE, all rest 1 or 2. 3,533 one ways. 15,435 total warps (12ish normal, if memory serves, been a while). Long tunnels (>11 sectors) Sector with 10 warps in and 6 out. Courses longer than max warp length. - Probably more, havent spent much time looking. |

Yes, a lot of these sysops and gameops want to make twice as many one ways or make tunnels that are 20 deep, and it can have devastating effects on the big bang. In many cases it can actually make the game unplayable. Those suggestions are put there by JP for a reason, and if you stray from that default settings too much, then you will have a problem game. |

The new way is supposed to guaruntee no courses longer then max warp length. will have jp look into it. |

The ones I couldnt plot were 4970 to 4977 and 1702 to 1837. 4475 was the one with 10 warps in 6 out. EDIT: There are dozens of sectors farther than max warp length from all 4 of the above, I havent checked any other sectors. Can post or email if useful. |

My changes hadn't accounted for bubble bangs. Working on that now. In order to guarantee that all courses are < max course length, there will tend to be more one-way warps. When the max course length is high, the map will tend to look pretty much like it used to look. But when max course length is low, the map will change quite a bit in order to guarantee valid courses. I should have the latest changes sometime today and we can see what these games look like and make sure they're playable. |

I grabbed the TWA and ran it here and bubbles were enabled. So something's odd. |

Not really sure the warp course bug is worth all the trouble. Really only a few tunnels and a few bubbles fall outside usually. |

This is something I needed to look at anyway because I've been getting reports of orphaned sectors and odd behaviors. Something I'd like to consider doing here is basically make the maximum course length an auto-setting for Bigbang, based on other settings. Then once you finish running bigbang, the value of the max course length would be the maximum possible course given the current map. You could choose to increase or decrease the max course in TEDIT if you want, but if you left it alone, you'd be guaranteed to have all clean warps. Would that be a reasonable approach? |
