I have used this from the admin port , many changes from the older TWGS
But now that I have it installed here on my site

I like it , I've gone over it with a fine comb , I like everything about it
except the yellow backgrounds on the new icons.

(not much to dislike actually)

I do like the new command center and the options to not show
inactive & empty games.

I have yet to try the import/export features in this new beta
but I'm sure those fixes are soon to come.

I did fix a problem with font size problem with spy mode (past problem).

The install did not make any changes to my layout , so that was a good sign.

Thanks again J.P. good job , I just hope the aliens don't mess my players up too badly.

I just noticed something , in the Monitor , the scale for send / receive is not working
but the node scale works.

I just tried the import TWA ... got the game info imported ok
That was never a problem tho .. but had to add it here cause post is so short ;)

Thanks, Vid, I'll have a look at the monitor scale. I messed with that a bit so I guess I broke it.

Ok, that's fixed. Thanks for the report!

Also the import feature. If you import an existing .TWA game file, you can't edit it until it's rebanged. You also can't rebang it unless the rebang setting is "Start with default data files" the 1st time. However it works fine and does keep most of the game settings at least the ships, planets, etc.
The thing is, the 1st time you bang it, you can't use the setting "Start with current data files (if any)", and it has to be rebanged to edit the game or to play it.

Ok, if you import a TWA file and then start TEDIT, what happens? When I import a game, I can run tedit on that game, or rebang that game with existing data.

I tried to import pokerrun.TWA and I couldn't do anything with it except rebang it. I'll upload the TWA to this message. Maybe it was a 1st time thing or something to do with that particular edit.

Sorry, had to be in zip form to download

Nice catch, BigD. I failed to include conversion code from versions prior to v3.12 for the new User record structure, and this TWA file includes data from v3.11. It's working now, but please look it over to make sure there aren't any other odd behaviors in this TWA.

In general, any strange behavior with a TWA is likely to be caused by issues with the data conversion, so if anyone sees something like this, send me the TWA so I can get it fixed.

Yes there are several older edits still floating around out there. I think Star Trek is my oldest edit that is still around. Sub Zero is pretty old too.

Not sure if this is a bug or not, but in the twgs.classictw.com game D, our
30k has 2 large orphan bubbles. 119 sectors and 120 sectors. There is no
warp in to the bubble.

I'm not sure if that's a byproduct of the larger uni, but it should be looked
at.

I remember we did have orphaned sectors in the 90's, those were sweet little pockets of heaven if you could blind warp safely into them.

*sigh*

You can't blind warp into an orphaned bubble. In order to blind warp, you
need to twarp. In order to twarp, the game has to know how far away the
sector is before it can calculate the ore requirement. Thus without having
a distance calculation, you can't twarp. These sectors have no warp in, you
cannot blind warp into them. The game will not let you.

Are you sure Sing... I dunno if Cruncher would say that if it wasn't true.

Your welcome!

Yes, it was entirely possible to use the t-pad to blind warp without having to plot a course. Early in the game before we had mobile planets, if we found an orphaned sector or bbl we would t-pad blind a havoc until we landed safely and could lay a fig. We would also do that if we discovered sectors behind Ferrengal.

It was an early bug that got fixed. Sing, you do know a lot about this game more than I do I’m certain, but you don’t know quite everything.

So your saying that you could bwarp anywhere in the universe and not use any planet fuel to do so at some point in TW history?

Ah.. nope, you needed a Level 1 with a t-pad and fuel.
