Within the week, I'll be banging a new game on the Beta server for testing. It is a script and bot friendly edit. I like to call it..

BOT WARS.

Inspired by some of the other sysop edits as well as Mombot itself, I put together an edit not designed for those that don't use scripts. In other words, if a player does not use a script or bot, he won't have a chance in this game.

Among the highlights:

1) ISS to be more powerful with 2:1 odds, 65K figs, 3 tpw and 250 holds

2) CEO Flagship to have exact settings as stock ISS

3) Havoc Gunstar to have exact settings as stock CEO Flagship

4) An upgraded Tholian with 10K figs and 15K shields at 1:1 def odds with G-Bonus, 20 photons and an IC control. It can't land on a planet though as it is too large to do so. Not cheap either.

5) IDC to be modded into a ship called the Superstar Destroyer with 8 tpw, 255 holds, 100K figs and can land on planets.

6) A ship whose sole purpose is to disrupt mines. It will have the max 40 disruptors, perfect for Mombot's "Disr" script.

7) Volcanic & Oceanic planets advance cits every 2 days. There's a special L-class planet that makes Equipment and also advance every two days. There's a special planet that is an ice world I like to call Hoth. Because it is so cold, there are no collies, but it does advance cits daily up to level 5. So it would go mobile in just 4 days.

8) There will not be a ship delay and I'll make sure other settings favor scripts such as having interactive prompts on. I believe extern is a local setting now and if that's the case, I'll run it at midnight server time.

I'll post the full settings using Prom's gameinfo script soon as I get done with the final touchups and will announce the bang date within a day or two. This exact same edit will also be on Runaway Proton's server in a tournament style game next month so it will be a good opportunity for players to check it out before playing the game at RP's server. LP, it is twgs.21-6.com:23 and I'll announce bang date when it's ready to go. There's a few active games on the server if you just want to get the feel of it.

Sing, I figured you would. I know players are hesitant to play on the beta server so I wanted to give them a reason to play on it and let them use their scripts and bots to their full advantage and let them try it out.

I just have to finish the edits on my local machine, do the ship description writeups, and then zip it all up and send it to John for him to import onto the server. From there, I'll bang it.

The only thing I have to decide is the amount of turns. On one hand, I want players to give the server a workout so I don't want the turns to be too low. On the other hand, I don't want very high or unlimited turns that players entering the game even a few hours late may be at a disadvantage against players who started at bang. I want players who arrive a few hours late to still have a decent shot. So I'm open to suggestions. At the moment, my edits were set for a 1250 turn 10K sector game with ship costs set as such as well as citadel advancement costs. If I was to raise the turns significantly, obviously I would make some ships more expensive as well as making some citadel advancements a bit more costly too.

Once I post the full edits, Y'all will have a better idea on what feedback to give.

TWolf, let me see if I can get that local extern setting in there asap before you're ready to open. It's not there yet. When you give me the TWA, I'll let you know if it's ready or what's the ETA. I don't think it'll take long.

Based on your turns per warp. Why not set the turns around 10k? I am in a game with 10k turns and it takes me a few hours to burn them up. Just my opinion! Btw can't wait to see the game. I'm liking the edits so far! Good job Timber!

Sounds good, John. I'm still testing the edits on my local machine after I discovered a small mistake in a ship edit. It should be ready to go within a couple days.

Comet, I'll take that under advisement. I'll start out with my 1250 turns and see what feedback I get on the edits first, then go from there.

Helix, I'll make that TWA public after it's been tweaked and I get feedback on it after it's played on the beta server.

Local extern time is in, and you'll be able to change it from a remote connection.

Tested it with Games G and H, set extern to be midnight server time.

I too have set my extern to run at midnight. While the game is active on the server, it's closed for personal testing to make sure I didn't miss anything, then when I'm satisfied with the edits, I'll rebang and open it to the public within a few days. I'll give 24 hours notice at least when I rebang. Before the rebang, The game will have a different letter and name when John gets to it.

Timber, you can play the game from your admin connection even when it's inactive, so you don't have to mess with closing it. Player connections won't see the game until it's activated.
