I was chatting with someone about dates and days. The question was : why does the date look right (regardless of the game year) but the day is off ? The answer is that the math on day date was wrong. If it were calculated by 7 days and 4 yrs for leap year then game date set to 2038 would result in day and date being correct representation on today's day date. I realize that will break some time locked scripts. It may just help others sleep better. Anyways is just a thought that came up while in chat. |

I'm not sure I follow exactly what you're saying here, but the projected date is correct. On August 9, 2022 (today's TW date), it will be a Tuesday, not a Monday. |

Right, it's today's date, plus 10 years, ran thru the day algorithm. So the date is 10 years off, but the day is whatever day it would be on that future date. |

Today is Aug. 10th .. tuesday 2010 the game is Wed Aug 10, 2022 what I'm saying is if the future were set to Tuesday Aug. 10th 2038 then todays day Tuesday would be the same day. This is all I'm saying. That was the topic of a conversation on TS3 one night. |

Oh, so you're saying to pick a time difference that results in the day being the same as it is now, but in the future? The reason the time difference is 12 years is because it was set to 2002 when TW2002 was in development in 1990, and it continues to advance as if the game takes place 12 years in the future. You might be interested to know that in my own version of TW fiction, the year 2002 is in a different calender that begins in our year 2084, so it's really a little over 2000 years in the future. And there are 10 days in a Galactic Standard week. But don't expect any of that to show up in the classic game. |
