The new version of TWGS is going to support an automated site list (Jumpgate).

Any gameop who wants can have his or her game listed at the Jumpgate website (part of the TW Museum). Initially, this will include only the site name and a link so people can find the site. But I would like to add features to this as we go. I imagine a gameop will want to include some description of a site, as well as descriptions of games running on that site. A gameop might also want to announce new games that are about to start, and recruit players for them. If the list only has a small number of sites, that's probably all that will be needed. But if there are many sites running many different games, then it will be important to categorize those games and allow players to list games based on certain criteria. When the new "old school" vs "hard core" modes are added, for example, people will want to search for games for each mode, along with existing modes likes stock, Gold and MBBS rules. Are there other features that should be considered here?

If the area could be used to present details about games, what would be useful data? A display of the same general info as found on the V screen? What if I could provide some nicer displays, like graphs of global assets, etc? There could be some general info shown throughout the game, and maybe a set of graphs shown at the end of the game that would give an overview of how each player did, etc.

I'm just brainstorming here. Any ideas are welcome. There's a lot that could be done here. I want to start small and just get it in place, then add features as time permits.

JP,
I like to see the settings pulled directly from the game, and if you change something, it would change with it.
With help I was able to make this work on my personal game website http://www.runawayproton.com/GamePage2.html and by clicking any of the games there you can see the game stats such as http://www.runawayproton.dyndns.org:88/ ... ts.cgi?twj

Any way to make this global through one website such as jumpgate to sysops who register and make it searchable? (not a programer, just asking)

Maybe just include a settings dump text file as part of the TWA, and have
all of that signed via the site. That way a sysop could have a reference
for the settings.

Might also include a way for a sysop to include a short note:
For example Lonestars Spaceballs edit has a script which was made by Vid to customize the game such as beacons and such.
Would be nice to include a note with the .twa file explaining that the script is used to set this up.

I'll definitely have a look at your game lists, RP. I know some great efforts have been made to provide this service over the years.
