I'm wondering how difficult it would be to update that menu? When I was trying to edit the M002 game the .TWA file I was given was just a little different from the M002 game currently running on Ice-9. So I screen capped the * menu there and went line by line in the G, H & I editors. The * menu would also be easier to read this way if it were in the same order as the edit screens. We're also missing some of the toggles from that menu as well. The two that stand out in my mind are the interactive sub-prompt setting and the # of days in the turn bank. If we want to retain our current players and attract new, we need to educate them on game settings, where to find them and how exactly they effect the game one way or the other. |

The * key used at the menu gives the game settings, which works in conjunction with SWATH when getting the game settings. It should be a separate format than the editors; in other words kept as is. some of us use that for our own usage. |

Are they still developing it? As more toggles are added to the editors, unless the sysop posts all the game settings on their web site how's a player to know? I've seen some have, Ice-9 does posts the # of days in turn bank. I might like to see what a game with the interactive sub-prompt turned off feels like. I can't see that from the * menu. And while the default is off, most everyone turns it on now. Is that correct? |

Another setting that is not seen by players is the death delay setting. I'm sure there may be one or more others , so please keep adding to this list if anyone knows one that might be helpful. |

Not all sysop's post the exact settings as others. That's what makes each site unique. We all have our own format. most of us do post the turns, sectors, and perhaps # aliens and mode (MBBS vs Non-MBBS). Some of us use a script to post not just specific settings, but the ships and planets as well. Sysop preference what they want to post for info on their site or not. |

I use a script wrote by Prom to show info. http://toyland.boldlygoingnowhere.org/pages/Game_B.html <--Example It does not do everything but it does enough that you get a fair idea of a game before joining it. |

Exactly. Here is one of our examples: http://tradewars.outpost-4.com/twgs/game_stats/progameinfo_a.html Thanks to Promethius, we can add to this script to include other setting we wish to display. If I want to add the death delay, I can edit the script to show that. Most of us have it set to "yes" anyways... that's a common knowledge setting. |

But Cruncher says scripts are bad and Cruncher says she only uses scripts that she wrote. Cruncher using someone else's scripts.... After each section or individual toggle setting a screen cap of the description from the edit menu. Then sysops and experienced players can add to the thread the pros and cons of the setting and possible strategies? Does that sound like a worth while idea to familiarize new and returning players with the latest settings? |

You could, although as stated these settings can be grabbed from SWATH and reviewed at any time. Also most information that players seem to want is either located in the Settings menu (once they enter the game letter, they press S) or they can get it either from the Sysop's website or forum post. However, it would be good to pass that info to new players so they can learn what it is used for. |
