 TWGS beta call for players
Thrawn is hosting the beta and we need players to go in and beat on it for awhile. There are no guarantees that the game will run uninterrupted for very long, but please play as you normally would so we can get an idea if it's stable. telnet://twgsbeta.outpost-4.com:2010Thanks!

Re: TWGS beta call for players
Trying to, but its awful slow. not sure if thats by design for testing purposes or not, or if its just me...with the exception of vids, I usually average 210 or so on ping.
Type sub-space message [<ENTER> to send line. Blank line to end transmission] S: ping : 1531 ms S: ping : 2969 ms S: ping : 3000 ms S: ping : 2609 ms S: ping : 2734 ms S: ping : 2953 ms S: ping : 3000 ms S: ping : 3172 ms S: ping : 3093 ms S: ping : 2921 ms S: ---------------- S: Min: 1531 Max: 3172 Average: 2798 -- What the Hell am I doing here? S: High/Low Removed Average: 2909 S: Min:Max Split: 1641 Extreme Intermittent Lag Detected S:
Here is what I am getting in the test.

Yeah, Thrawn warned that it might be laggy. Since it's just testing, hopefully that won't be a serious problem. If it is, let me know and I'll start looking for a different place to host the beta.

Wow, that is a bit on the slow side... Sorry. When I tested it before it wasn't nearly that slow. I wonder if it's intermittent, has to do with time of day, or what. I'll see what I can do.

Not complaining, and happy to help. Just wasnt sure if that was something you needed to be aware of. It went up to the low to mid 300s for min, but is back to taking 10 mins to make 5k on swath pair trade.

Our sites and main TWGS are not affected, and neither are our business customers. We just checked with our customers that have sites hosted here with additional services (mail, FTP, chat, etc) and nothing out of the ordinary for them. So it could be the fact that the services we are providing to our business customers are taking more of the resources than the TWGS can get. I did tell you this might happen. Was worth the attempt.

Re: TWGS beta call for players
John, I watched remotely as a few people logged in. It is slow, and the issue is in fact that adding the extra TWGS is just not going to work. With the services we do for our hosting customers, plus the fact I am linked to my Search & Rescue site for transferring satellite images to/from locations, I can't free up resources to run this beta test. People are just going to turn this into a flame post about the speed; it will frustrate them, and it will frustrate you.
I've taken down the server and will uninstall once I get back to our office. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I was simply giving feedback. I had a feeling it was either related to the new game, or to real life. Was just trying to help. Sorry if I was misinterpreted.

You did what I expected. After your post I had two others login to test the speed. It's not fair to you guys if our current services are causing the TWGS Beta server to suffer. I can't shut down everything due to my work. Perhaps someone can step forward to host the Beta server for John.

Re: TWGS beta call for players
Any rational person is going to choose real life over a game. laff. Cant blame you. It was a nice gesture that you were willing to take the time to attempt to provide a location in the first place. It would be a low class of person to criticize your server over it, even if it was just a slow server.

Re: TWGS beta call for players
John .... One idea that popped into my head overnight was
IG's Why do the ship IG's not require fuel while the planet ig's do?
Suggestion that to power the Ship IG would require fuel.
Would allow someone to eventually escape the IG if ship ran out of fuel.
Another suggestion... Have a user choice of planets say I want a Oceanic and a random amount of cost to guarantee you get what you want.
Would still keep the spirit of popping planets with the random cost factor but you would save a lot of time.
