When twgs starts up it spawns an extra window named TWGS that looks like a DOS box with nothing in it... If i close it down the game server exits regardless if minimized to tray or not. Anybody else having this problem? |

With the new TWGS , if you have a problem (anything except the service thing) .. try to install again but this time pick repair .. that will probably fix your problem. |

Is it the latest version? v2.16. Are you running as a service or just from desktop? |

Yeah running from desktop, actually from start menu -> all programs -> eis folder -> twgs folder, running on xp home sp3. Yes it is version 2.16 |

TWGS is a console application, but the console window is usually hidden. I'm not sure why the console window is showing up on your system. Did you have a previous version installed that worked fine, then updated to this and saw this problem? Or did you install this version fresh? |

this is the first time its been installed on this system. Instead of just showing "TWGS" in the title of the empty box, when i run twgs.exe from windows explorer it shows in the title the full path to the executable... If i click the yellow symbol in the top left corner it has a menu that says: Move Size Minimize Maximize ------- Close Edit-> Defaults Properties Edit has a submenu that reads Mark Copy (greyed out) Paste Select All Scroll Find Again, closing this empty box closes the main server program... |

Ok. Well, I'm pretty sure it's just the application console window. The question is just why it's showing up when it's supposed to be hidden. It could be something different with how your system handles console windows. It's kind of annoying, but shouldn't effect anything. It's normal that it closes the server when you close that window. Console apps are always like that. I'll be curious to know if the issue continues after the next release. It's possible I did something wrong in prepping the release. |

Definitely. I already know of one problem I had in preparing this update. It won't run properly as a service. So I definitely did something wrong. I'll be posting an update here soon. |

It used to happen alot to me after an update. It would be fixed by installing twgs as a service successfully or by using the reset option in twgsserv H |

But it doesn't sound like he's run TWGS as a service at all. It's definitely true that running it as a service can cause this. That's the whole reason TWGS is a console app at all, because it must be in order to run as a service. So TWGS is a console app with a hidden console window unless it's installed to run as a service, in which case it's a console app with only a console window and no GUI. At least for recent Windows versions. Prior to Vista, it was possible to bring up the GUI while running as a service, which was nice. |
