I get the following error when installing TWGS:

The server is Windows 2008 R2 x64, and I am logged in through remote desktop. I'm going to have to drag a monitor into the server room and see if it will install from the console.

That worked. The install ran fine from the server console.

Just means you need at least 16 bit color set in the RDC

I tried every color setting Windows 7 has:

None of them worked.

When you connect, what color depth do you have for the session?

You might have a 2008 remote desktop session config
that's conflicting.

I'm having similar issues... trying to install on a Virtual Machine. I'm theoretically on the 'console' but no matter what setting I pick it still complains that it's not good enough. Weird.

got it.. set to 32bpp on the local console... tried RDP at all sorts of settings, (15,16,32) no dice... 16bpp on the console didn't work either. Now I've tried 1024x768x32bpp and it appears happy thru VMWare's virtual console.

You running 2008? I've got navhaz on windows 2003 R2, 1024x768x16bpp, running as an instance under Hyper-V and there's no problem at all.

Nope, I was running 2003 under VMWare. But close enough. Just weird that color depth is a requirement at all. :)

Now that it's installed I can login via RDP at 256 colors and 640x480 if I want without a hitch.

Hrm, yeh that is a strange requirement. I wonder if it has to do with the VMware video drivers.

This is an installshield issue. I'll see if there are any fixes and if not remove the restriction from installshield and just put it in TWGS startup.

Actually, on second thought, this is just an aesthetics thing. The interface looks like crap at 256 colors, and I didn't think anyone running WinXP+ was going to be running 256 colors, but I completely overlooked the fact that remote connections are sometimes run at minimal color depth. I'll drop the restriction back down to 256.

You may want see if thier is an ANSI patch available for win 7, server 08.
or try this one for winxp. Maybe server 08 has Ansi.sys :?

This was fixed with the release of TWGS 2.01
