Please welcome vtgrumpy to thereverend.org. He has volunteered to be the new gameop on my server and he has full creative license to run whatever games he wants. I hope you will find his management better than mine. The server is still physically located in my basement but VTG has remote access.

Though I can't say that I've ever played a game of TW with VTG, I know him personally very well and trust him. Don't hold it against him.

With so many servers closing, I hate to close mine. This is my solution to keep my doors open. Any inquiries can be directed to VTG and his preferred medium of contact is this forum. Happy hunting!

After talking with the Reverend, we are looking to keep and re-bang:

A - Revstock: 1800 turns, 7000 sectors
D - Masters of Orion 2 (moo2): 2000 turns, 10,000 sectors
M - Moon Patrol: 1000 turns, 5000 sectors
S - Sub Zero: unlimited turns, 20,000 sectors
W - Blue Heaven: unlimited turns, 20,000 sectors

We think this gives us a good mix of turns/sectors. We are also open to player-requested setups/edits, so if there's something you want, ask for it here.

I also plan on re-banging the sub-zero edit regularly to keep a "fresh" game going... now, I'm not all that familiar with unlimited games, so those that are feel free to comment on the length of time, but I was thinking evey week I would close it, determine a winner, and re-bang it.

I have seen SZ's last 10 mins and some last 10 months.

Believe it or not.. a lot SZ last more than a week that arnt even close to stale.
If you do get a players base in a SZ, then, have a decent game going. You wont have very many happy campers when you decide to shut it down in 7 days and somehow determine a winner.

for example, the SZ is 22 days old -- about 5 total players -- all but 2 destroyed -- and only 1 logged in. (that would probably qualify as a game that could be banged)

i'm pretty sure this means you will have to request a game with aliens and/or a truce. "bang some games with aliens," is probably not good enough. be at least somewhat specific. request a certain edit with alien races and turns/timelimit/etc.

Just looked at the Sub-Zero game; there are only two active players, but the daily log shows invasions and planet-busting... I'd be inclined to let it settle out a bit more.

I am, however, re-banging the STAR WARS game... see new thread!
