Well I have a server I recently put up and have been testing for about a week. I have several games up and running for those that wish to test and post results.

http://toyland.boldlygoingnowhere.org
telnet://toyland.boldlygoingnowhere.org:2002

Will put up most any mods, with the exception of large unlims, I am on WIFI since I live in the country so not sure about heavy traffic at this time my up/down is a 1.7K connection.

I have tested from work in the city and I get pings of 125/140 a friend of mine tested from cali and gets mid 200's but his pings are typically high anyway. I am more interested if any lag is present I am seeing a split of about 30/40 when i test. Any feedback would be appreciated. The games currently up will be rebanged friday evening and running at 7pm cst.

Extern is midnight CST, there is a 2 minute downtime daily at 4am for running a backup script.

My simple rules are on the webpage, play nice and have fun, teach others and the game will grow and continue. We were all noobs at one point.

Thanks

We are experiencing severe weather in the area tonight so might be spotty if we get heavy rain. It is completely on UPS so it will depend on interference from the rain. Such as life in the country. :?

Server was running extremely well with pings in the 140-150 range, extern hit, and instantly things slowed down to be unplayable - ping won't even run as it times out. I am guessing an Anti-Virus check kicked off on the server at midnight. Might have also been my connection to the server going screwy, but logged off and on with no change.

Yea I noticed that yesterday morning when i checked in from work..... no AV on machine. I will check log files when I get home. Seems doing a server reboot fixes the problem. Any other suggestions are welcome but hopefully reading the logs will reveal something hanging. But thanks for all those have checked and reported back. I will post what and if I find what is causing it.

Decided to check used VNC to get in and the process extern is running 97% to 98% and stays there. Possible corrupt game file?

Ran Extern manually and checked the TWGS Maint screen it was hanging on Death Match. I rebanged it and all seems to running fine, will check again tonight after extern.

An automatic run of defrag could result in the same problem. You might want to check for that as well.
