 SPACEBALL TWGS aka The Sprawl
If anyone has the time, I would like to stress test my Server. Over the last few weeks Rider has been working continuously to find a solution to my little hacker problem. The good news is that the Server is now running from a Quad Core Pentium with 4GB of Ram. So it should be a little faster than before Please feel to DUPE if necessary. Any and all fed back is welcomed. I would like to thank Rider for taking alot of his personal time to construct a TWGS that is light years beyond my abilities. I did give up on hosting a TWGS, but Rider really went way beyond the call for Help and allowed me another shot at being a Sysop. In the hopes that the problems of the past remain there, everyone can hopefully enjoy a little more speed as a result.. Lone telnet://twgs.spaceballtw.com:23

Re: SPACEBALL TWGS aka The Sprawl
I tested out your server before and found that I had one of the best pings I've ever had. I do have a couple of suggestions for you, a couple of things I've learned the hard way through years of experience.
1) You have a large selection of edits, but I think you'd have more competitive games if you cut down on the number of games you have. Just choose the edits most played and eliminated the ones that don't draw players.
2) I noticed you have serveral games like sub zero, star trek, and star wars that are known to have a lot of aliens. Either cut the amount of alien games down, or at least cut the number of aliens in each game. The reasons for this are, when each alien moves it uses cpu and cause lag. Also, aliens send out massive player messages which can corrupt the data files and also bug out extern.
Hope it works out for you whether you take these suggestions or not.

I had 29 Alien Races.. that probably put the actual number of aliens somewhere around 116 --17 more aliens than there are Nodes ...Btw. Two of the Sub Zero Edits have no Aliens active (but the best ships are for sale at dock). I intend to have mostly turn Games (1k to 3k Range), and the Edits will change with popularity. Hoping all goes well with the Server performance, I imgine that the selection Menu will look alot different a couple months from now.

Mbbs mode OR 1 day bust Clear.[/color] Take a look at Game A, it's 'STOCK'. Cit times are half, MBBS is on, 1k Turns. A few of the Ships have a TPW knocked off and I think I increased the xport range of colt to 8 Hops. I want to wait and see if the Server remains Stable before I host any kind of a tournament.
