Kokua is a TW helper that aims to integrate with TWXProxy to give the trader a visual heads-up display (HUD) on top of the fast TWXProxy proxy.

This release fixes several major stability issues, and adds a few minor features. In particular, Kokua now has one-click pair port trading and SSM execution, a more accurate sector map, and better data parsing, including busts.

You can access Kokua at http://twdata.sf.net/kokua

This should help the Linux users to have some ground gained in the TW games now. Nice work on the program.

Thanks Don. We'll be adding this helper to our TradeWars Academy section for players. They can now access their games via Java telnet, their helper program, or yours. Great work.

Nice project, however i have hit a road block? Is there an installer that needs to be ran.. I tried the kokua-0.6-standalone.jar from the zip file and it loads but when i hit connect it gives and error. missing connection-dialog.xml inside the .kokua\gui folder.

EDIT: after hunting in the zip, I found a SRC folder and moved the GUI manually, seems to be working. Very nice BTW.

Ah, you are right - I made a change to the backup system, but forgot to test with no .kokua directory. I'll fix it up and put out 0.6.1 Everyone, thanks for the comments and do let me know how it goes.

Also noticed that the "set background" on sectors didnt seem to work? Ill try the new version.

Can the user set the brightness of the "terminal" window, its very washed out.. as in the white has been turned way up.... i'd like to be able to set it as dark as the lower screen for com-link.

Yeah, that feature works intermittently, unfortunately. To be honest, this release isn't feature complete or bug free by any means, but I figured I better get another real release out or the code will just sit on my hard drive unused. It is open source, so if anyone wants to fix a few bugs, add some features, or whatever, please let me know.

I think i see whats going on with the "brightness" in the terminal window the colors "grey" and "black" are backwards. thigns that should be grey show black and black as grey, is that adjustable in the XML?

I fixed the background color issues in the sector map for release 0.6.2 [1] and a few other things while I was at it. As for the grey/black issue, the ansi terminal emulation, vt320 I believe, comes from another project, but digging into their code, I couldn't immediately pinpoint the issue. I'll look at it again.
