This year we have implemented the following changes to the league: 1) Eleqtrizit will replace Fuseblown on the league board. This is a much-needed replacement and Eleq has much to offer in experience and leadership. 2) Servers can now run an unlimited number of games per year. What we hope this will do is twofold: a) increase the number of league games played per year; and b) make league games less intimidating and more routine. 3) Signup lag has been elimintated. You must sign up for a game before it starts or not at all. Once you sign up you get rated whether you play or not, win or lose. The reason for this change is twofold: a) players have exploited this lag to keep their ratings high by waiting to sign up until they have gained a winning position; and b) because of the exploit the rating system has been compromised and neglected. What we need now is for two things to happen: 1) Sysops need to run more league rated games. 2) Players need to sign up to be rated in any game they intend play to win - and to ask sysops to make their favorite games rated. Everyone wants the league to succeed, but we can't do it without your help. The more games that are rated, and the more players that signup for the ratings, the better the rating system will work. Personally I would rather have ten losses and no wins on my rating than to look like a coward by never signing up. If you are afraid that you won't rate then don't, but I think everyone wants to know how they stack up against the competiton! The League needs you! |

I applaud the TW-League for making the very reasonable change of requiring people to sign up BEFORE a game begins, and held to the win or loss thereof. Just out of curiosity, how did such as absurd system as the one they had before (which let people play games under aliases and only declare for it to count on the 7th day if they expected to win it) ever come into being? I don't mean to criticize; i am just CURIOUS how such a thing ever got established, and what the logic was behind it that justified such a system. galaxi |

I'm sure server stability had a hand in that. If server is choppy on day 1, doesn't mean your NOT going to play day 2, but I'm sure 7 days is long enough to decide if you like the ping, since the league's list of servers (at one time) was FAIR, to say the best, I'm just rambling accually, but I'm sure it was server stability, lets hear from the source Grazhoppa |
