Helper UIs haven't changed much since the beginning: a box with some key stats down one side, a terminal window, maybe some buttons and menus...

Does anybody have any really radical ideas for helper UIs? Now's your chance to see them realized. I've been working on the guts of my helper for the last couple months, and I'm about to start working on the UI.

I've wished Swath could keep up sometimes. For example during WSST operations I sometimes find myself holding 2000 holds of equipment because it continues to add rather than update. I'm assuming this has to do with the speed of the scripts nowdays.

Another feature I'd like to see is a wondow displaying active scripts, and a way to kill them individually quickly. But I suppose this may have to be done in twx not a helper.

Just thinking as I'm typing lol.

I think the thing people most seem to want is a mobile interface. If you could do something that supports many different mobile devices, or something that could be easily ported, I think you'd have something.

RP as for the Swath keeping up .. put a "/" in your scripts and Swath updates ..
TWX has the ability to display active scripts and if done right , a menu for terminating them individually.

And I agree , these requests are not for the helper, but the twx scripter.

Porting to Android has always been in the back of my mind. My app is written entirely in Java, so in theory it should be portable. But the Android edition of Java is slightly different from J2SE. For example, I think it only has java.nio, not the original java.io. So I'm not sure if the libraries I'm using would run on Android without a lot of work. But one of the most important ones, the JPA (database) provider, says they plan to support Android in the future. And I'm mostly writing to the JPA standard, so if I had to switch providers, I could.

It would have to have a really unconventional interface to be usable on such a small screen. No keyboard, either. I feel like I haven't seen enough mobile apps to have any good ideas for what such a thing might be like.
