Can you guys forgive me? I have been negligent and completely insensitive to your needs for time and attention, and only thinking of myself.

Speaking of me, I only came back because my planetary trading script stopped working. That is all that I really do, although I did laugh when a guy that caused me some inconvenience almost a year ago returned, attempted to leave the trade lanes, and one of my planets used their quasars on him.

I have run my planetary trading script up to four times a day. Eight, actually, because I have more ports than a single planet can feed, so I need to run the script from two different planets.

All of a sudden CURRENTSECTOR started returning a zero. I have had some problems with it, I made my script return to the starting sector, but sometimes it does not. I have my script get the planet and sector numbers from the planetary menu and then the original script grabs the sector number from the citadel menus, but now CURRENTSECTOR returns a zero both times. I simply added a sector scan and it now works.

Does anyone have any idea what happened?

Did anyone realize that I was gone? :)

My guess .. because I have no idea what language you are programming in or what version of TWGS you are using ...

Is that your script (if I may call it that) is not triggering on something after the sector number ... like "] (?"
so that you may parse the command or computer prompt for a sector number.

The newer TWGS runs a bit faster and twx scripts had to be changed to receive the full line before processing for data.

I hope this helps ..

p.s.
I'm sorry to say .. I never heard of you , you must not have made a name for yourself in the TWGS community :(

Yeah, gee Comet, leave a tender moment alone.

I remember ya Grey.
Do you have a .ts version of your planetary trader script?
At the least, give us your $st dump..showing twx is waiting
for some triggers. If this isn't a twx script, things might be
more difficult. I think Mongoose is hip to swath scripts tho?

edit:
just saw this....

Glad you got it working!

I can tell you what prompts need to be seen for the CURRENTSECTOR constant to update, and that will hopefully help you. They are as follows:

'Command [TL='
'Computer command [TL='

If you arrive in a sector and either of those prompts aren't seen, then the CURRENTSECTOR constant will not be reliable. It's also possible that one of those prompts are seen and the constant is updated, but some later display causes it to be zeroed. If you can nail something like that down, pass it along and I'll modify the behavior.

You are absolutely right , those are the only prompts that TWX uses for the database.
To help make all versions of TWGS data parsing compatible you have to think past just those as triggers and key on '] (?=" which shows only on those 2 prompts in game to display sector number.
Then you will always capture the sector number = currentsector.
I may suggest if there is any reason , protect yourself from spammers and
add a spam filter for "F" , "R" , "P" .. something Singularity loved to test on others.

hope this helps

Possibly someone hitting your figs or getting Q-blasted by your planet messed up your script as well. I know sometimes the aliens hitting my figs messes up the SWATH WorldTrade script for me on Rogue Galaxy but they might be running an older version of TWGS. You might want to add in a sector scan to your script if the current sector reading is 0, to debug that problem. I always get wrong prompt myself when WorldTrade stops working.

BTW how does a planet trade script work load cargo from the planet to the ship and trade or just do a planetary negotiation from the port menu? I always wanted to know. I usually do the planet trading by hand or planetary negotiation and wanted a better way to do it.

I apologize, I neglected to mark "Notify me when a reply is posted," so I forgot about the topic, and did not realize that you guys had responded.

Vid Kid, I did not know what I was doing, and I was not any good. Hopefully I have improved since then.

Can you point me to an example of spam filters?

Comet, I am not sure what you contributed or if you were laughing at me or Vid Kid.

Crosby, I guess that I left the sector scan in and forgot about it. I am still working on the script. I finally thought to prevent it from selling all of my fuel. I am having mixed luck transferring my credits to the citadel before I reach the billion limit.

ElderProphet, how would one arrive in a sector without seeing the prompts?

orionblastar, yes, it is planetary negotiation. I based it on a framework posted by Singularity. Helix filled in the blanks and posted his script here: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=32208

Well, thanks to at least most of you for your responses. Again, I apologize for tracking the responses, except for meanies.

You know who you are.
