As many of you may know, when I took over Ice9 four years ago, I took anyJoe2000's concept of a sysop messaging script, wrote it for TWX, and added a few bells and whistles. It was released at large to the community sometime afterwards.

I was never very happy with some instability and efficiency issues that it had, but lacked the time to rewrite it as I became more familiar with TWX. However, since I have been home on paternity leave the past two weeks, I figured I would rewrite it from the ground up, and add some new features, and am pretty happy with the results, and started running it on Ice9 this evening. While I am not ready for a widespread release yet, if one or two ops would like to run it to see if they can find any bugs that I may have missed, please PM me and I will be happy to send you the code.

In addition to greeting new players in the daily log and via ship mail, and sending a mass ship mail to all players (either in a specific game or across all games), it will also post messages to the daily log, and do fed comm blasts. These last two features many not be as useful right now, but I plan on releasing other sysop scripts where those features could be more beneficial.

Hey V'Ger, if I may may a suggestion from a players point of view.

The welcoming message you send is very good, but it gets lost quickly if someone deletes their computer messages.

If you could replay that once a week or so in your regulated games, that may be helpful.
