Please help me. I have basic computer knowledge but no expert.
Thanks!
I feel your pain, I started after an 8 year leave and like you began with the Java client.
I do use zoc, you can get it here:
http://www.emtec.com/zoc/The free evaluation mode does not time out and does what we need it to do.
If you want to use the TWX scripts, the address you set in your telnet program (zoc) is localhost and whatever port you care to use, like Sing said, the second tab (Program > Listening port) That must be the same in order for this to work.
Now, you use TWX to connect to the game, so in the first tab is where you put the server name, IP address and connecting port. Most use port 23, but not all.
I'm certaintly no expert with these scripts, but can use a few. To load the scripts you use your mouse to right click on the TWX icon, then load scripts. You access the TWX dbase with the $.
If you find that all too frustrating, and I know it is. You can also use Swath and you can get that here:
http://www.swath.net/ The very nice thing about Swath is the graphic maps, and if you find you like the TWX scripts, you can still run those from within Swath, but it also has a lot of build in scripts and a very nice record function so you can make our own custom macros.
Welcome back! Where did you used to play in the 80's?
