I'm playing on the HVS version 2.03 on swamp bbs. I noticed TWX is not working properly but swath seems to run fine. Is there a version of twx that would work or was twx written after HVS for a newer version of twar? Kinda lost.. heh

The only TWX scripts that work are moving stuff or colos. MomBot does NOT work at all in HVS.

Swath - everything except turbo mode works.

Reason being - abort on display was added later in TWG, TWX and MomBot scripts rely on abort display to run. Swath turbo needs abort display.

This is "Old School TW" baby!

It's still fully scriptable, I write simple macros & scripts in Zoc. You could probably edit TWX scripts or write them from scratch.

Swath trubo mode worked upto v1.9.4 (mcic additions cause turbo mode not to work in later versions of Swath)

High Velocity Tw has always had an abort display and still does. Many tw programs and scripts are geared to the key used in twgs and not the key in the hvs version.

It would be nice if someone would stop misinforming the comunity about how the hvs version works :(

I'm sure mom bot and other scripts (.ts) could be mod'd
like what I did to my 12_login.ts when the new beta .v.2.14
was added to the V screen or the TWGS menu

I had it write the version type to the config data
so scripts could know what version that database was for and could do things
native to that.
eg. v.2.13 - TL - get corp planet sectors and planet types
v.2.14 - TL - get corp planet sectors , planet numbers and planet types

So a little rewrite of the offending scripts could be done
if anyone was interested , played in those games and knew how to write.

I'm not interested at this time , and don't use mom bot.
But maybe someone will step up.

Show me where in HVS you see these options?
I have TWGS and Mombot, they DO NOT work in HVS as written for TWGS.

(1) ANSI graphics - On
(2) Animation display - Off
(3) Page on messages - Off
(4) Sub-space radio channel - 29630
(5) Federation comm-link - On
(6) Receive private hails - Yes
(7) Silence ALL messages - No
(8) Change Password
(9) Abort display on keys - SPACE

(A) Message Display Mode - Compact
(B) Screen Pauses - No
(C) Online Auto Flee - Off
(E) Sector Autoreturn - Off

I'm not sure why anyone would take the time to edit scripts for HVS. HVS is full of bugs and not worth the effort IMHO.

I agree Big D , but this isnt a debate on what is best tradewars program .. just that its out there.

Now as far as Cruncher .. what does the menu screen or V screen say as version number and such ..

So if script can see its that version , then it will never use the CN9 change
but may just buffer in a space in the script macro.

This is only an example , I believe the space has always been a abort display
and this is not something listed in CN settings.

Because we didnt use CN settings other then to turn animation off or set sub-space channel .. or maybe turn private hail/sub-space messaging on or off.

Try it in a macro .. adding spaces ... and find that version (message to determine if in HVS mode)
and I think you would understand how to make changes.

just my 2¢

There are two main reasons why many TWX scripts do not work in HVS.

The first is fundamental. The port reports, both CIM and CR, are slightly different in syntax and TWX will not read the HVS information. There are probably others but I gave up trying when I noticed that.

Next, HVS will not carry commands over past certain prompts, like TWGS can, so many TWX scripts will not work, although it wouldnt take a rocket scientist to modify them.

The HVS version running on Swamp is nowhere near as buggy as the last game I played on Eclipse before it went TWGS. It is the latest released version of HVS TW. The only bug of significance Cruncher and I found there was the port rollover bug, which does not give anyone any advantage.

I did and adding spaces just brings everying to a halt. When I first came back I was only using Zoc and wrote a few simple macros for TWGS. I had to modify those without the spaces for them to work in HVS.

The turbo mode is available in the Colonizer and the Planet Resource mover and it works just fine in 1.9.8 and has nothing to do with MCIC. The MCIC calculation is only done for ship trades in SWATH. (If anyone got some input for planetary trade negotiations I would be happy to add support for that too)
