 Swath won't save macros
I keep creating macros, I save the profile, and then when I close swath and reopen the profile the macros are gone. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?
Thanks!

 Re: Swath won't save macros
only thing I can think of are you looking in the right directories ?
Between XP and Windows/(Vista/7) I believe that they have changed the permissions on where swath writes their config files.
It is not entirely out of the question that the permissions to the same directory are fubared.
I am so sorry that Windows had to think about security after the fact.... They were like drug dealers... the first hit is free Now that we have you hooked... you will do it our way ....
Now back to the original question... Where does Swath save the config files...
Why do we need to know what Service Pack you are running on? I am no programmer ... the people that look at any of my code will tell you that.
Saving to My Documents? worked under XP service pack 2.... Now we are to service pack 3
Ok we save under My Documents/Application Data or something like that... Now as a developer how can you make sure you are saving to the correct place... This is not a problem with the Swath developers... as much as I HATE their choice of authentication they are not at fault here... They are just going by the "rules" of developing at the time they wrote their program.
Microsoft moved the end zone... and Swath was already at the 3 yard line...

 Re: Swath won't save macros
Yes, I am to my documents, which I created a shortcut and placed it on my desktop. When I want to launch the game, I double click on this shortcut. Everything I saved before is still in there, but the most recent changed I've made to that characters settings does not save.

 Re: Swath won't save macros
macros are saved to the swath.ini file i believe
search for it. You have a pointer set wrong somewhere

 Re: Swath won't save macros
macros are stored in SWATH.cfg and like Parrot said , a reg pointer is wrong.
I would locate the file , save it to a safe place. Uninstall Swath , Reinstall Swath in its default location.
Then make a shortcut from the default location. And when that is all in place and the registration is working and tested. Exit Swath and
Copy the saved .cfg file into the data location where Swath normally saves them. (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\SWATH).
Since your using win7 or Vista , you may need to set permissions for them to work.
You will have to ask others on that tho .. I'm kinda a caveman on that.

 Re: Swath won't save macros
Ok, I tried the uninstall and reinstall. Everything worked, but once again, I cannot save macros. Also, I cannot save my preferences as well, even though I clicked save after I changed my preferences and added a macro in for testing.

 Re: Swath won't save macros
Find the swath.cfg and in the same folder is a swath.cf_
Check that the swath.cfg is not marked READ only.
if it's not then:
Open swath create a macro, verify that the Swath.cfg file size changed, if it did make a copy of swath.cfg and close swath. Are the cfg and the cf_ back to the same size? If yes, delete both files, place the file you backed up in the folder and verify the name is swath.cfg and open swath again, and repeat. I had this issue the other day in linux and after I went through those steps mine now works correctly.
Hope it helps.

 Re: Swath won't save macros
Thanks TOyman, you helped me figure it out. The issue was I was not running Swath with administrative privileges, so it wouldn't let me save the changes. Once I ran it with admin privileges, it worked.
Thanks to everyone for trying to help me!
Now, does anyone know where I can get the Swath Java script pack that was on their site, but I cannot get to now?
Thanks!

 Re: Swath won't save macros
I sent a e-mail to Stein and ask if Mac or Himself could post the swath.zip in the Helper section. I will look when I get home but I am not sure if I still have them laying around.
