Anyone know the mcic of the median or average port.

For EQ? -42 is the median.

Average? Varies from bang to bang. It's going to be -42 +/- some variance, but exactly what variance... no way to know without knowing every port.

So it is a random event with each port generation then?

Well it's based on the seed. There's a correlation between the seed and the port layout.

So it's as random as the bang seed is, however random that is from sysop to sysop.

So in other words there is no way (from the player side) to detect an average mcic from the game specks i.e port density etc.

No, to do that you would have to add up all of the MCICs that occur and divide by the number of ports. Since each
MCIC spawns by the seed, you can't really know unless you know the seed.

With that said, there's an obvious top and bottom, so you can easily determine the median for comparison values.

That's what I was going to say. If you take the maximum and the minimum values add them together and divide by 2, that should put you pretty close to average. That is IF the maximum and minimum values are constant variables and apply to all seeds.

(20+65)/2=42.5 Median Value

Average is different. I was looking for some other than random value pattern that the game might or might not use.

Yes. As Sing said, I think each seed may vary one way or the other to an extent. So a precise value probably would be hard to calculate.

Heh, since Traitor isn't around to say it, I'll stand in.
http://www.tw-cabal.com/strategy/economy2.html

I'll go ahead and paste the pertinent stuff though:
So, I decided to track the frequency of ports, and found that the distribution was flat, and that you can expect there to be approximately 21 equipment ports for each value of MCIC, 21 organics ports for each value of MCIC, and 19 fuel ore ports for each value of MCIC. However, you're just as likely to find a -65 EQ, -20 org, -90 fuel port as you will a 20 eq, 75 org, 20 fuel port. Basically, in an average bang, there will be 126 buy EQ ports at -60 or less.

He is talking about a 5K bang, 45% density, 95% built.

Regards,
+EP+

Right, so there's no standard port average, distribution is random based on the seed.

Too bad but it makes the coding for the project simpler.
