Just a heads up about Windows7 and TWX 2.04 Final
I created a virtual machine with Windows7. I installed SWATH and TWX Proxy v2.04
I would be interested to hear other people's experiences with running multiple copies of twx under Windows7
I usually run 2 to 3 games at a time with no problem using Windows XP. (ie open 3 sessions of SWATH and 3 sessions of TWX) What I found under Windows7 was that I could only run 1 copy of TWX at a time. Any time I opened a second copy it would generally run fine for a while then stop with an application error.
I have a separate twx folder for each session I open
Session1 run on port 2004 TW2002\2004 TW2002\2004\LOGS TW2002\2004\DATA TW2002\2004\SCRIPTS
Session2 run on port 2005 TW2002\2005 TW2002\2005\LOGS TW2002\2005\DATA TW2002\2005\SCRIPTS
Swath looks here for the scripts TW2002\TWXProxy TW2002\TWXProxy\LOGS TW2002\TWXProxy\DATA TW2002\TWXProxy\SCRIPTS

Curious to know what kind of "virtual machine" setup you were running. What I mean is I run VMWare on a Vista machine. What is your setup.

I am running vmWare fusion v2.06 on OS X (10.6.1). At the time I tried Windows7 RC, it was Fusion 2.05 and OS X 10.5

Nod. We had the same issue running Windows7 in VMWare Workstation. We also had the same issue trying to run multiple TWXProxy under Vista. I've been trying to figure out the Windows7 issue. Seems that XP handles the multiple sessions quite well. We had decided to create a vm of XP and use it for our TradeWars playing. Until I can get a response from Microsoft's Tech Support, we too have the same issues. If we get a response and get it resolved before you do, I'll pass the info over for you.

What seems so weird to me is why would the OS care? I am running separate copies of twx from different directories and on different ports.

Re: Just a heads up about Windows7 and TWX 2.04 Final
Well believe it or not it not only has to do with the OS, but the hardware as well when using VMware and running programs in the vm. I have VMWare installed on a Vista machine, another installed on an XP machine. Both have different OS but close to similar hardware. Some programs run great on the XP machine running VMware, but the Vista machine running VMware has a few issues when tryingto run the same applications.
From my experience, and since we've owned both our VMware workstations for many years, I think it is a Windows7 issue, not your Host OS. Vista does the same thing as you outlined in the beginning. We could run multiple copies of TWX and sometimes it would work, other times we too would get an application error. Same when I tried Windows7 in the vm. W2K Server runs multiple copies just fine, as we run our webserver in a vm and it runs our OCSBot/ScoreKeeper.
Since we have tech support with VMWare, I'll drop them an e-mail to see if they may have an idea.

It is a general conversation about a potential problem to end users that are considering upping their OS to Windows 7. A few people have sent in their concerns to MS, seems logical to share information without beating MS or TWX into the ground. Since Win 7 is very near to being released mainstream I find it interesting that I will hold off until I can verify that it will or won't work. Thanks guys for the early warning. This is the type of thread that most of us come to the forum for.

This is the type of thread that most of us come to the forum for. Right now I'm tracking the usage of multiple TWX running scripts on one virtual machine vs multiple TWX not runningscripts on our other virtual machine. It appears at least on my end the issue comes up if one instance is running World Trade while the other is doing a ZTM. Meanwhile the idle instances on the other machine still connected. I'm wondering what the relation would be with running scripts and causing the error to appear.

The error only appears for me in the second instance of twx while running a script. Worldtrade, LS Ore v1.6 and wsst

Helix Same here on my tests. I was running WorldTrade in the first instance and a ZTM on the second instance on Vista, and the same on VMWar running Windows7. I believe it's definately a Windows issue, not TWX. I've contacted Microsoft after producing an errorlog to see what kind of response I get. I won't hold my breadth, so I'll have to write an application to get the info I want.

I can run several instances of TWX under VMware (under Windows 7) without any problems.
I can also run several instances of TWX under Windows 7.. but.. when I try to load a script using the TWX icon (bottom right) it will crash (with application error) after a few minutes.

Legion, what happens when you try to load the script via the command menu? By pressing your TWX terminal key (mine is $), then s for Script menu, s to load a script. I notice mine is fine when I go that route and the instances run fine with no errors. If I do what you outlined via the icon in the task tray, I too get the application error.
