Should i buy swath?
I'm a big fan of zoc/twx. Do i actually need another helper?
I tried it for a couple of games, the unregistered version obviously. Wasn't too keen on the lightbulb on lightbulb off thing. If i run twx or rexx scripts that should be off yeah?

Can you play multiple games on multiple servers?

Are there any twx or rexx scripts that just wont run with swath or run but not accurately or run slower?

I read about the authentication issue but that doesn't seem to happen too often. If it did happen at a bad time could i just revert back to zoc/twx? Twx would still have all the info wouldn't it?

It's only 14gbp so i know i should stop being a tight arse and buy it. But i don't wanna buy summat i'll never use. I don't need a map. But the on screen info was nice. Sending info, accidently, over fed was never helpful. Especially your home sector. Hmmm. Laff.

Thanx in advance.

Can't help you there, I've been about as far as you are now with Swath. I never got past the authentication part.
As far as accidently sending information over fed com or blind warp, you can actually set zoc up to stop that by using the auto reply features.

Yes the LightBulb should be off, it is more a troublemaker than a helper if you use scripts.

Yes you just point it to a new copy of TWX via the listening port.

I can't answer about the rexx scripts, but I have never had a problem with TWX since it actually does not run them it just passes the info to TWX.]

All the TWX info is stored in the TWX database files so yes switching between Zoc/TWX or Swath/TWX would not matter one way or the other, I use Kevterm and TWX with Swath all at the same time. And use just kevterm/TWX with no data difference, the only thing would be that your info in swath for using the map would be a little off, but nothing a CIM / Fig/ Armid/ Limp refresh would not correct.

if you want you can close the chat window, but it makes it easier to find people when they broadcast, and I hate looking if someone is willing to tell me where to look  i recommend leaving it on....

Hope that helps

I like swath because of it's map and layout. I like having a little status bar window (altho that can be coded in twxproxy), but it's mostly the map. The comms window is also pretty useful, alt-C turns it on and off.

As for the lightbulb, I just leave it off. I don't use the autohelper features. Yes you can run multiple instances of swath and have multiple games going at once. The auth issue is irritating, but I've never had a big problem w/ it over time. The comms window won't really stop you from sending to the wrong channel tho, it's pretty easy to forget you're in the fed tab and still talk... laff.

And yea, it's already been said but you can switch back whenever you want.

A nice touch for SWATH would be for the active com-window tab text, or tab itself, change to a different color.

[Edit] The "active" window text moves a few pixels higher than the unselected tab[/edit]

One thing I don't like about useing the com window in swath is that you can't use your tab key when it is open.

I will take a stab and guess your using mombot? if you map the right and left arrow keys using the macro's provided in the documentation.
^(1f) Left Arrow aka Tab
^(1e) Right Arrow aka Tab
^(1c) Console for mom + I have mine on Num + since in the new version of Swath the Up Arrow has a conflict
^(1d) Console for mom - This is set for Num - "same as above"

That's something i forgot to mention. I need mOm to work.
@TOy expect a pm or icq if i buy. At 1st glance that seems a bit confusing. Esp the last 2.

@Prome or even only allowing 1 msg before returning focus to the main window/tab. Anything.
That, i remember, was my main problem. I'd forget to change window before... Twarping, mowing, exploring... Etc... Maybe cus i was just getting back into playing or getting used to new helper. Put me off a lot tho.

@all. Thanx 4 ya replies. Very helpful.
