Does anyone have a reference to the data format used for storing sector data other TW information (like ship specs, etc) avail?

I would be very interested to do something if JP ever released the file formats and keys to what they mean for TWGS.

I was looking for tw2002 sector data... my overall goal would be to read the sector data and store it in a db.

That info is good prom, but unless I am missing something it is not quite what I am looking for. I found something once on BlueNinja that they used for their now defunct twedit program, which had pre-V3 file formats and keys.
Something along the lines of
Position 1-10 -fig info
Position 11-15 - mine info

stuff like that.

k, might email JP on it and see if he will provide that or contact the message's author. I think if you go to his website he has an email addy (don't know if it works or not).
